I have a 97 Yamaha Timberwolf and it is beyond loud, is there any good options to silence them or at least make them bare able to drive. I know it has a crack in the exhaust pipe, but even with that fixed its still loud.

1996 4x4 Timberwolf rearend width. Can someone with some knowledge of these machines answer this question for me please. Are all 4x4 timberwolves this narrow in the rearend? These tires are so close the right one actually rubs the muffler. Thinking about seeing if there are any spacers out there for it. I need at least an inch more clearance.

Sorry I suck at these forums so if you see this submitted under update status, my bad. Anyhow this is a new shock for a 96 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 it fits my 96 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 4x4 perfectly. Little narrower are the bottom than the original but everything else is perfect. I extended it to almost a half in from full extension because I’m pushing 350 pounds. It rides and hold me well. So if any of y'allRace driven shock. have been looking for one and didn’t want to do the research here it is.

Hello I’m new here and was wondering is anyone knew of good replacement part numbers for front struts and rear shocks for this atv? I think I’ve found a new rear shock, that looks like the original but there is no dimensions or anything and was wondering if there are any afterMarket new front struts available. I know it’s a long shot but any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I received a 98 Yamaha Timberwolf from my brother for free, and I'm working on getting it going. I am having the following problem: The engine is backfiring through the carb. I have done the following to try and get the four wheeler running: Rebuilt the carb and set the air screw to 1-1/4 turn out and the circlip at middle position 3 Replaced the coil, because the cable was loose at the coil end Repaired the main ground, coming from the battery Replaced the ignition switch, because my brother couldn't find the key. New switch tested good Tested the kill switch and it tested good New coil tested goodfor both primary and secondary coils Pickup coil resistance is at 195, which is correct My source coil, is where I believe the issue is. The resistance is 310ohms, and it should be between 428-523ohms When I opened the stator housing, there was significant oil, which I have read is normal. Does it sound like I'm on the right track replacing the source coil? Could this be causing my backfiring issue? It looks like the source coil is part of the stator assembly, is this correct? 4BD-85510-20-00 STATOR ASSY

First of all I am new the forum and I am looking for answers on my Yamaha Timberwolf 250. I have cleaned the carb, due to it sitting up for a year, and I have set the float height 21-22 mm, along with new needle and seat. I have checked the float and it has no holes and will float in a cup of gas.The carb still over flows fuel out of the tube coming out underneath the bowl. What are my next steps to fixing this problem?

Bought a 97 Timberwolf and it's missing a few fasteners. Anybody happen to know the size of the bolts that fasten the fuel tank to the frame?

I bought a 1996 timberwolf 4x4 from the beginning it didn't run right so I rebuilt the motor everything except the crank shaft and it has a new carb on it runs better but now you can't give it much throttle before it falls on its face and dies I can blip the throttle wide open and if I let off it'll return to idle after a little stutter but if I hold in the throttle wide open it'll fall flat on its face and die I just set the valves when I built it cold ran it for a few then set them again after being warmed up what could the issue be I've cleaned the gas tank cleaned the carb and checked all jets and I try to mess with the air fuel screw but even all the way in while running doesn't affect the idle which I find odd any help would be appreciated. I'm suspecting carb somehow but I'm new to this still and I'm pretty lost. It will also when pushed wide open act as if your no longer on the throttle and will back fire from the carb and die you can ease in and get it up to high rpms but if you just gun it you're not going anywhere so basically loses power as soon as you do it dies completely and throws a white fog gassy mist out of the carb I've also tried with the air filter on and off and no change

I have a Yamaha Timberwolf 250 2x4 that I purchased a while ago as a project. I fixed it up to where everything was working great in my opinion, however when I showed it to a potential buyer he complained about a vibration from the rear drive shaft. (Which I ridiculous seeing as he tried to wheelie it before that) Anyways I took the rear diff apart and found most of the seals and bearings where bad. So I bought a kit off of amazon only to find that it doesn’t have all of the bearings and seals. After finding that I decided to try to find a used good condition replacement but they’re all to expensive for me so is there a better alternative for me, or can someone point me in the right direction to get the rest of the parts?

It will go into neutral, 1st, 2nd, and reverse but nothing after 2nd gear. The shifter moves freely going up completely nothing but when you shift down it works. I’m not sure if it’s tranny issue worth messing with or if I should just buy a new one. Overall besides that the thing runs like new.

Howdy, I was given a 2008 Yamaha Timberwolf by my in laws a few weeks back. Of course my FIL said it hasn’t run in 8 years but all it needs is gas and oil! That hasn’t been the case...so far I’ve replaced the spark plug, changed air filter, replaced battery, replaced fuel and oil filters, fresh oil and gas. I tried starting her up and no luck, it turns over but won’t get going. Now I’ve moved on to cleaning the carburetor which I’ve heard is a common problem area. I can’t figure out how to remove the bowl at the bottom, any suggestions? I removed the four screws that I thought were holding it in place but the bowl won’t budge Thanks and looking forward to getting her running! Some photos of what I’ve got going on , this has taken over the garage

Just picked this up at a yard sale, runs and drives..color coded wires for battery were backwards, Meaning a red wire was used for negative and a black for positive.... Upon bringing it home decided to boost the battery and walked away giving it a small charge prior to starting it..came back to find battery slightly smoking and my Green light for power (neutral) was no longer lit up...Still starts when i pull start it with key on. Turn key on and no starter spin up, no lights Id like to get my Electric start working, What could be the problem, Where does one start.

I just rebuilt a Yamaha Timberwolf and after getting it back together there are 5 Philips bolts left over with a round head they are about an inch long and they are cleaner as if they go in the motor somewhere. Looked all over already and can’t find where they go only thing have yet to check is the stator as I don’t remember taking the bolts out of it any help would be appreciated greatly, thanks.

I have a 1996 Timberwolf with a stick shifter. When I got it the previous owner told me it was a transmission issue. He also said the starter went out. I got it home and the battery was dry. Changed plug, coil pack, filter and all fluids. I have it running well, but the shifter does not move. It is stuck in neutral. The reverse lever seems to be all the way to the front. Does anyone know where I should begin?
