I've been trying to piece this Lakota 300 back together, slowly. It's been a rabbit hole however. I replace one thing, then it leads to replacing other things. Anyway, When I got this thing I noticed that the hose coming off the camshaft cover wasn't attached to anything, it was just hanging loose. (It's literally just a foot long hose attached to nothing) I figured since it was venting the head it would be ok and I am sure it is. However, last night I was looking at the service manual and noticed that it mentioned that this atv has a crankcase breather tube as well. Mine does not have one, so I looked at Partzilla and looked at the parts diagram and sure enough, it's definitely supposed to have one. The problem however is, the service manual does not show how it hooks up and the parts diagram only shows the exploded view of the assembly. I just find that kind of strange, nowhere in the manual does it show how it connects. Does it have it connector, attach to a nipple? It just doesn't say and it bothers me that there is a hole there without anything attached to it. If anyone has a Bayou 300 or Lakota 300 with an intact breather vent system and could possibly take some clear photos of it or know how it connects I would be very grateful. I have searched high and low and cannot find any information on it. Thanks

I recently was gifted a 1998 Lakota 300 and it was modified to start only by electric start. ( Removed the pull start) So I put together all the parts he was able to find and I believe it's back together like it's supposed to be but when I start it via electric start, it turns over but I do not hear the sound a proper combustion sound makes. Furthermore, I did all the spark tests and it's showing none whatsoever. I installed a new starter and I believe I installed it correctly. Could I have accidentally thrown the timing off? I lined up the timing marks but the top mark will NOT line up correctly.

Do not know what else I need to attach the pull start to this machine. I have the pulley but nothing to attach it with. Could you help with what else I need. It's a 1999 Lakota 300

So the other day I picked up a Lakota 300, it's going to be a new project for a bit, the engine is super clean and so is the frame...luckily the VIN was intact. However, it is the missing the air box (the one that holds the filter) but it does have the air chamber that goes to the carb. These air boxes seem to be pretty pricey, so my question is has anyone had any luck running a pod filter on theirs and if so, what kind of jets are you running? The carb on this one is a Keihin CVK, I have yet to pull it off and inspect it.

Last summer I put a new carburetor on the Lakota and it ran great. I was riding it the other day and it died. It turns over but it will not start.

I've inherited a 1995 Lakota 300... it has the knob in the center of the handbar to twist to go into reverse, but I've notice when downshifting, you don't have to have the knob turned, it will shift right past neutral and into reverse which is a little dicey if not all the way stopped. I followed the linkage back and twisting the knob seems to actuate the lever on the outside of the trans, the internals just don't seem to care about this. What is the likely problem and how back is it to get to? I've never been inside of one of these transmissions. TIA, -Rob

Hey guys I just picked up a 2003 Kawasaki Lakota 300 sport last night i noticed today the foot gear shifter was loose so I tightened it a drop now i see a leak right around where the shaft goes in trans. Is this a easy fix? Is there anything I can use temporarily to seal it Im sure it would get less in the colder weather or maybe with a thicker oil may slow it up so is there a temp fix for now ??
