I have a 2004 Grizzly YFM 660 F that I use to plow the driveway and I use it to do yard work. For me it's a work horse. The cooling fan quit working last year. I didn't have time to mess with it so I sent it to a Yamaha dealer and this is where it all went south. The OEM fan was over $400 and the Moose fan was around $250 plus labor and sales tax. So I chose to have the Moose fan installed. That's where the trouble began. The first snow fall I worked this old girl not knowing that the Moose cooling fan draws more power than the OEM fan and its tripping the cooling fan automatic reset fuse. Yes, I have done my homework and I have diagnosed the circuit. The only problem I have is...I can't find the fuse. I have read that it's on the left side of the airbox. I have looked at the electrical 1 diagram and it's no help. My question is do I need to remove the airbox or do I need to remove the rear plastics? I have been hunting for a repair manual but I haven't found one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I made the mistake of using the ICE coolant in my unit and it rotted out the head fittings. Using cheap Harbor Freight air drill made the repair a snap without tearing down the motor.Make sure you go slow tapping the head, the pipe tap is a wedge and only do a couple of turns at a time. Going back to regular Green 50/50 antifreeze.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I promise I did search. I have a grizzly 660. The guy I bought it from gave me two plows. Both have the blade and metal tubes that look like they would go back to the rear of the ATV to attach. The end of the tubes are shaped like a C. I can get pictures this weekend. My question is how does it attach to the quad. I feel like I may be missing a piece that permanently mounts to the quad. I do have a winch. I'm not even sure if they are the correct plows for the quad.

Hello everyone, Im new here, this is my first post and Im trying to figure out how evrything works on this site so I please let me know if Im doing anything wrong. I have a couple Yamaha's but this post is in regards to my 02 Grizzly 660, I have an electrical draw somewhere that is taking my new battery down rather quickly. I have tried to locate any short by checking each circuit but was not able to locate it that way. Im installing a battery cut off switch which brings me to my first question, dont these switches usually go on the Negative terminal? My next question is, can anyone tell me if this year and model has any history of electrical shorts that might help me locate the culprit? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Finally, Im looking forward to being a member of this site and hopefully helping others as well as learning some things myself, so greetings to all! Best wishes to everyone!

Disconnected the plow yesterday on my 2004 Yamaha Grizzly 660 and am getting ready to do some riding yesterday and the battery went weak, Starter cranked a few times but week. Put my trickle charger on that I bought and went to the garage today to start it up, but the starter is just spinning and not engaging. The solenoid is clicking. The pull start sucks and is hard to pull (never use it and need to look into that). Quick video of the starter spinning. Could it be the starter or the starter clutch one-way bearing? I guess I need to take the cover off to see what's going on. 2004 Yamaha Grizzly 660 Starter Spinning.mp4

Quick ATV Ride Today Yamaha Grizzly & Kodiak
Ajmboy posted a topic in Northeast ATV & Off Road Forum
Got my Yamaha Grizzly buttoned up finally and went for a quick 2 hour ride in the power lines with my neighbor, who has a Yamaha Kodiak. We have access from his yard, which is nice. Was a beautiful day today to get out and will try to go more often. Ran into two other quad riders with a sportsman and I think grizzly. Also ran into a dirt bike rider. 😎- 5 replies

Hi, Have a 2005 grizzly 660. Just recently started backfiring and showing incorrect speed. Lifted seat and messed with wire going to starter relay, it stops for a bit but seems to come back. I ended up pulling all the pins out of the connector for the relay and added new pin/connectors for all 4 wires. fixed it for a little bit but came back shortly after. This was a new starter relay i installed a few months ago. Anyone know if a bad starter relay would do this?

This is more of an informational fix I wanted to share.. My Grizzly has been getting harder and harder to shift this winter and today was completely stuck and I needed to plow the few inches that came down this morning. First thought...oh no, tranny...but it’s winter and maybe it’s iced up. I pulled off the plastic to see what was going on and indeed I did find the drain tube iced up. I took the blow dryer out and de-iced it. Quick fix, I never really thought about the shifter drain tube icing up before, shifts like new! FA04AC3B-4FB0-4764-AFD9-1492F5CC790B.MOV
