Im afraid that since Im a beginner with these things Ill have more guestions than answers. Ive been riding motorcycles since 1962, but this is a whole new ball game! Anyway thanks for your help.

Hey Pete59Edsel! You were right! Its on the front-left hand brake and its a little spring-loaded l-shaped piece that keeps the hand brake on. I must have looked at it a hundred times and never saw it. Thanks a million! (it works too).

My question is: if the 1997 Kodiak 400 has a parking brake, where is it and how do I set it? Thanks for your time.
