Here are some more pics from the neighborhood. I hope everyone that is hit much harder recovers. There are some sad stories after this storm of people dying, drowning, loosing their homes and posessions. My heart goes out to those people.

I live about 45 minutes north of NYC and we had no power until Thursday night. Had a generator thankfully. Now I have internet but no TV...lol. The big issue is the gas shortage and the lines. My step mother is in Nassau Long Island and she just got power back yesterday. Same deal there no gas. My friends are in Bellmore which is closer to the water on the south shore. They got some flooding. There are some bad hit spots in LI and NJ.

We got through it, couple of trees down and no power. Power won't be up for days. Thankfully I bought a generator the last hurricane! Long Island, manhattan, and Connecticut shore lines took allot of flooding. New Jersey got hit the worst I think.

Maybe one of tehe rings got stuck or you got some blow by. When was the last time you changed the oil? Did you use correct oil for that temperature? What year is your ATV?

Do you mean 20w50? I've never heard of 10w50. If it's not burning it has to be leaking somewhere. * Added full year and manufacturer to thread title.

Check your air filter for the blow-by. as far as the popping noise in the rear, it could be the ring and pinion or a something else like a mount or control arm, bushing, etc. It's hard to diagnose wiithout being there...did you get a second opinion from anyone?

It's never too old to get into ATVs! Awesome!

Welcome back! Summer flew by for me...

Age doesn't matter in my opinion, it's abuse, wear & tear. Quads if maintained can last a very long time. It runs good when warm, so it's probably jetted correctly..I think it's choke related. Have you tried starting it with 1/2 choke? If you spray some starting fluid in on cold start, will it start up faster?

Hopefully you wont need to change the guts, but you never know. I would try and change the oil and gas. I've sunk many atvs, but if they are not dried for a while, it could be an issue. I've hydro-locked my pistons and had to remove the spark plugs then crank it to remove the water. But still good afterwards!

I used to own a 450 Kodiak. What info are you looking for?

Is there a fuel petcock or shut off switch?
