  1. Yes that's correct. I'm almost ready to give up on it .
  2. I was thinking of that and how it could be done. You would think the ps would add extra resistance when trying to steer.
  3. Yes it's hard to turn whether it's on or not I will try testing the can tomorrow and see what happens.
  4. Hum maybe I think at this point it just needs to be replaced. I'm going to hunt around and see if I can get lucky and find a used one .I also may consider selling the bike with full disclosure on the problem and getting something newer .Tks.
  5. Basically I'm bypassing the ps box and hooking directly to the motor.Same as if I had the motor out on the bech without the ps box attached at all.Ok I will also try putting meter on can wire .Once again thanks for your help.
  6. It looks as though it's we're the motor attaches to the ps box that what it shows in the pic I uploaded here I'd like to get the motor off and test it but I took of the bolts and it feels like its being held by a gear or something so I didn't want to force it off .I'm trying to avoid taking the whole unit out but I may have to .also I put my meter on the terminals that look like we're the motor connects and there is no voltage at all even when applying force on steering.
  7. I'm referring to the terminals under the cover which says do not remove there are 3 terminals looks like there for the motor bypassing the ps box.
  8. There is voltage on terminal we're it plugs in main supply. Didn't change with turning the handlebars. On the other side shown In the picture, I would think I'm bypassing the electronics in the ps unit. There is 3 terminals I'm guessing because it's a 3 phase dc motor. So one should be a ground , but I'm not sure how to test it to see if the if I go to ground and positive to the other 2 I should get something from the motor ?So it seems like nothing from the ps box to the motor and bypassing the ps box nothing as well.
  9. So I found some more pics The yellow sticker Is were I'm talking about .What would 3 terminals be for ?
  10. So I played with it again this morning and seems to be consistent power on the main unit I found what looks like a port were the wires connect to the motor .So put the tester on it no reading at all .So I'm guessing no power getting to the motor. So I hooked it directly to the battery and nothing. I thought forsure it would attempt to start the motor , but nothing .I took a pic of the internet of somebody else's ps box just to show you what I'm talking about .The only difference is the one in the picture looks all black mine is nice and shiny.
  11. That makes since I will give that a go as well.
  12. Hi guys checked all the wiring I can't find any issues at all with it , must be the power steering box .I guess I learn to li e without power steering or both the bullet and spend 3 Gs on a new box.
  13. I did turn on key with battery hooked up in reverse that's how I knew it was hooked up wrong. I will Chek the things Gwbarm mentioned tomorrow. Again I can't say enough how I appreciate your help.
  14. To the right of the 30 Amp fuse bottom left is the main . To the right is eps . I unplugged the the fan and got a code but also i unpluged the relay for the fan and got a code .May be if I left the power harness on the eps but took of the other harness it would send a code ? It didn't trigger ra code with the harness plugged in when I removed the fuse or the relay.
  15. So the latest .I pulled the 30 Amp fuse no code so ran it for at least 1 minute and no code. Then I pulled the relay and did the same ,no code ,then I pulled both harnesses of the ps unit and did the same no code , this doesn't seem to make any sense to me at all. I also phoned the dealer it is $ 2600.00 plus 15% tax for a new one I can't see making that happen .
  16. Yes everything else works. If you look at the picture I attached I don't have the diodes on my fuse box like on your pdf.i have another picture attached.
  17. Yes thanks mech .I did hook up the battery the wrong way .Duh wtf was I thinking so there is hope again for me I will have to find that diode have no idea we're to look tbough .I think the steering failed the day the battery died , not positive but I think so probably wasn't working because of low voltage and I know I did hook up the battery in reverse so that .makes since.I aks read that you have to Rev the engine up to 2700 rpm .for 45 seconds to get it to trip and then it will stay on so tomorrow I will do that . Is a diode close to fuse bank I don't even know what it should look like .I guess I'm asking what would be some good places to look .Tks again for the info I would be totally lost otherwise.
  18. Just noticed lookin at my own pics I do see the eps fuse it is a 10 instead of a 30 Amp.Not sure if that would make a difference. It isn't blown though so I'm thinking all should be good .
  19. I have 14.4 volts at the poer steering box.I have no codes being displayed. I talked to dealer they say very unlikely the ps box is faulty and trow a code if it was.I jacked the bike up and everything is moving freely. The weird thing is I can't find d the 30 Amp fuse in the fuse box or the .I have attached pics . Becuse im confused as why it dont have the fuse or the relay for ps .I took a pic of the ps unit to confirm that is what i think it is , and its marked artic cat not aftermarket .Tks.
  20. Yes Mech , I found a wireing diagram but there is no power steering in it.Im hopping not but maybe it's just the eps is shot I need to keep looking and see how I can confirm that it's shot.
  21. So still can't get ot working. I have 12 volts at the unit .I checked the fuses all are good I'm not getting any codes on the dash that others say they are getting .When I pulled the fuse fir power steering the code did show on dash but went away when I put the fuse back in .If there is a control module we're is it located ? I'm not lazy I've been looking around the web and can't find to much about it .I'll have to see if I can eventually down load the manual on this site and see what I can find out .Again as always thanks for your help.
