  9. Jagged X RANGER RZR Wins Best In The Desert's Bilek Silver State 300 The team pulls off another win! - 10/07/08The Jagged X/Polaris Racing number 1919 team was able to pull off another win at the Bilek Silver State 300, in Mesquite Nevada. Jagged X started in second place with a smaller-than-usual field of only five vehicles. The Mesquite venue was billed as a new race course but the drivers soon discovered that Casey from "Best in the Desert" still had plenty of tricks up his sleeve. Co driver, Blake Van de Loo noted that the course had, "The most silt ever but also was loaded with a huge variety of terrain from 7000 ft pine forest to a trip through the old mining town of Caliente, Nevada, and even some pretty deep water crossings." The Jagged X RANGER RZR moved into the lead shortly after the start when the lead car encountered engine trouble. A little more than nine hours later, Brandon and Blake crossed the finish unchallenged to score their third season victory and to further secure the lead spot in the 2008 BITD points chase. The next BITD race is the Golden West 150 (formerly the AVI 150), in Jean, Nevada, on Oct 25. This is a Quad, Side-by-Side and trophy lite only race and promises to be an exciting event. 16. Dune Prep 101 Getting Your Ride Ready For The SandIt's just around the corner. Your first trip out to the sand dunes in probably six months. That's the last time it was cool enough to go out and shred some sand. Where has your quad been since then? Stuffed away in the garage or still sitting in the trailer where you last parked it? I'm sure some of you're still waiting to get one of the new machines that are now starting to roll onto the showroom floor of your local dealers. 17. Wide Rear Ends - YFZ450 Axle Install - How-To Do It YourselfIn our October 2007 issue, we had just finished installing a set of wide A-arms on our Project YFZ450. To complement the width of the front end, we also received a rear axle from Leager Racing. Many people wonder: "Since the front of the quad is already wider after you do an A-arm install, will adding a wider axle really make that big of a difference?" Well, yes it does. 19. ATV Maintenance - Pro Remedies More often than not, it's the simple things that turn a good day sour. With a few tricks of the trade under your hat, you could be the one who saves the day.Shielded From The Elements On a wet day it's a good idea to place foam into voids around the airbox. The foam will prevent excessive amounts of splashing water and debris from reaching the filter and stalling the machine. The last thing anyone wants is to end their day with a swamped quad. 20. Oil Change - Yamaha Rhino Oil change steps for the Yamaha RhinoBefore you start, you'll want to make sure you even need to change the oil. Do you have a brand-new Rhino? If so, you should change your oil after the first 20 hours/1 month/200 miles, whichever comes first. This is important in the initial break-in of your motor. After that, the manual says you should drain the oil every 150 hours/6 months/1500 miles. However, most industry professionals will tell you this is way too long and suggest changing the oil every 75 hours/3 months/750 miles and swapping out the filter each time. The problem is that the manufacturer is assuming you're using your Rhino for nice quiet drives on a graded dirt road...yeah right, most of us are barreling through mud holes or screaming up dunes for hours on end. Plus, your Rhino basically has the same motor as a normal ATV but is doing twice the work, hauling around an additional 400 pounds and a passenger. That extra stress needs to be taken into account when deciding how often to change your oil. This also applies to any performance modifications you've made. If you're putting extra horsepower through the engine's internals, you'll want to change the oil more often to help prevent premature failure.
