  1. best advice i got from an old mechanic "compression kills spark"
  2. Mech Thanks for the reply. BTW, have lots of family in your neck of the woods C spanner (had to google it) more tools ... love it. Seems simple enough. The Quad is a '98 if that helps. I don't think there are any adjustments to increase spring tension. None of that makes sense to me at any rate. Getting springs off is one thing, finding something for the rear that is somewhat more robust will be interesting.
  3. Hello Folks Have a Kawasaki Bayou 220, called the KLF 220 in my neck of the woods. I have had some fun getting to run nicely and eventually found a chap who sorted it all out for me. Something about 80-year-old bike specialists that make all the difference. Anyrate now that she is running, I want to clean up or replace the spring suspension. so to my questions - [1] has anyone changed/upgraded the spring suspension? if yes to what? [2] The thought crossed my mind to split the spring system and change the actual springs for something firmer and give them some love while at it.. Has anyone split apart the springs, if so how does one go about separating the springs from the shafts? Comments appreciated. Hello from sunny South Africa Royden
