You might be hearing the shift linkage vibrating. Mine does it and it is annoying. Trying to figure out a way to stop it -

2017 Polaris 450 missing decompressor ball
mxracer13 replied to huanchaco's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
I just had the same sort of issue with my 2017 450 HO and it lead to my cam breaking. The ball had fallen out of the hole and was rolling around on the head. I only have around 400 miles on mine. If I could I would get a cam without it. -
I live in Northern Michigan and I am near several trail heads. It gets really busy on most of the trails up here in during the summer and the dust will choke you but it is still fun.

Have you tried these guys? https://www.powersportswarehouse.com/oemparts/c/polaris_atv_1989/parts

My guess is it came out of the hole it was in and got bounced around until it broken something. It seems like a really poor way to design it. I am guessing there was a spring behind that bearing that I haven't found yet.

Somehow the pin that holds the timing great in place broke the the camshaft. I am trying to figure out how this happened. I found a small ballbearing in the head and after trying to figure out where it goes I think mystery solved. It appears like it fits in a hole on the back side of the exhaust lobe. anyone know for sure?

I am going to need this. I just had the cam break where it connects to the timing chain sprocket. -

The picture you posted from the manual is for a 570, is this the same for the 450 HO? Thanks
