  1. Valve lash will increase over time due to wear.. Adjust them cold, and more to the tight end of the range.. As the motor warms up, the clearance will increase slightly as metal expands. Magnetic plugs will pick up any tiny wear fragments and if more than a very small amount of the finest steel "dust" could give you an early warning of a component failing; but at a price of $60, not worth it in my opinion.. You could check for wear by passing a small magnet through the spent oil when doing a regular oil change a lot cheaper and pretty much as effectively as using magnetized plugs. Sorry , I can't advise on which cover is over the intake or exhaust valves.
  2. Battery voltage is low , but that shouldn't stop it from spinning over .....even at 6 volts it should turn. Try cleaning the commutator and make sure all the brushes are making proper contact with both the commutator and the wiring.. Hold that starter tight when you "bump " it .. They have lots of torque and can jump out of your hand if you don't have a good grip. Problem could be a bad ground for the battery or a corroded positive cable to it not allowing enough current to spin the motor over.
  3. Is it just me or does the forum have a problem? I have tried both uploading a video from my PC and not had it connect to upload , and in an attempt to post a link to the video on Youtube, got the error message the video must be from Youtube.com.......yet the URL was to Youtube.com and it was not recognized.
