  1. I use mostly for work also, dont care for the mud or see how much mud i can get on myself or the quad, i guess as iv gotten older i think, if i go through that mud it will be fun, but then i will be wet and muddy the rest of the day and when i get home i will have to clean all that mud off the quad. I do like riding through the woods, it so relaxing, and i do like riding to the creek getting off, fish for a while, generally on my own land i like the solitude of being the only one in the woods.

  3. Another thing I like is riding on hard packed snow , hard crust , can go anywhere , but it’s not often it happens

  4. Oil traps the dust and stops it working it's way through the filter or cover.. Engine oil is fine. It does need squeezing out because too much oil can make them run rich. If you give it a good oil and work it through with your hands, then put the cover in a rag to soak up the excess when you squeeze it in your hands it will come out about right. Just squeeze it, don't wring. And I was just kidding about the old one looking fine.. Even I would change that one.

  5. I think thats pretty standard procedure for foam filters with metal support, there is a special spray oil for them.

  7. Yeah you're right there Gw.. You do need to get the carb onto a nice flat surface.. Do be careful if you're using the impact driver Kawasig. It's easy to hold the carb and the impact bit in one hand though, and tap the bit to seat the bit in the screw.. that's safe.

  8. I second rebuilding your original carb, i usually buy the all balls kit it comes with new screws, of course you can buy OEM jets and parts individually at a greater expense. The screws sometimes get very tight usually from dried varnish around the threads i would spray them good with carb cleaner let them set for a while and then spray them down with PB Blaster. I have had to get many out with pliers, i usually use the smallest needle nose vice grips but channel lock work just fine. I have never tried impact driver im sure it works, i was just always afraid it might break the carb, that pot metal does get a tad brittle with age.

  9. I use a screwdriver in the hole and turn slowly to tell when im at top dead center with a finger over the hole to tell when im on the compression stroke, but timing marks are good too if you can see them while turning over the engine.

  10. I’m with you on this, I like forests and public lands. A nice trail that’s scenic. I guess I’m getting older now.. used to like mud and going through water/snow for a more challenging ride.

  11. I mostly use my quad for work, carrying myself and equipment to places on the land, and it's steep hilly land so a lot of it turns into a bit of an adventure, but when my sons were young we made a mud hole with a skid pan next to it and we had so much fun and so many laughs over there. Mud is good !
