Pictured are the tubes for your fuel vacuum activators. You might not have the horn in the center depending on your fuel tank valve.

In the back top, two vent hoses that route up underneath the shift lever panel.

Fuel feed goes in lower left near the bowl.

Fuel pump should be on the upper left frame fwd of the handle bars. It is the vacuum that operates the pump.

You might not have the fuel tank valve port on your carb. If your tank valve is the simple on, off, res, type, you don’t need this. If it is the on, pri, res, type, then there is a vacuum port on the back side of it. Vacuum from the carb opens this type valve to allow fuel to flow to the pump.

If you have the simple valve with a carb that has the fuel valve port, plug the carb port. It is not needed.

Do you have a manual for this machine?

Download the OEM service manual for the 1999 KQ model form this forum. It has cable and tube routing diagrams. Much of it will be the same as yours.

Tim: i found the manual ,but i cant down load it for some reason? what am i missing?

Hi tim: i have another issue with the same machine! i cant get a spark, changed the stator, ign coil and the voltage regulator. checked and checked everything twice and still nothing? here is my question, the wires on the stator dont match whats inthe manual? can you tellme where ea wire goes using the colors? and also on the voltage regulator, there are 3 yellow wires, the manual does not say to what wire(color) they go to or does it matter? and does the reverse switch have to be connected for it to start? if so where do they connect to and the colors, please!!!!!!!!!!!! i have checked the cdi and it checks out ok. thanx jim

Says file not found on my BlackBerry. Out riding so not near a computer. Try searching the internet in general for a free download. Or PM Oxidized black.

the stator wire colors are as follows, 3 yellow wires,1 green wire and a black w green stripe wire!

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I hadn't driven my Kodiak for a two months, and since it was low on fuel, the first thing I did was filled it up to maybe 7/8 full. Getting ready to start it, I rotated the fuel selector switch to "on" and within seconds I smelled and saw fuel dripping onto the floor. I quickly turned it off and the fuel gradually stopped - I can repeat this.
The fuel is flowing from the hose that is connected to the bottom of the carb, and routes around to the left side toward the wheel well. Any idea what's going on here? It ran fine the last time I had it out.
      Thanks...

I bought a 1996 Sportsman 500 4x4 about a month ago, and I love it. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing a few problems with the high-range gear. The first problem is that the gear selector will intermittently pop out of high and into neutral. This problem will sometimes occur when starting from a stop and sometimes will also occur while at cruising speed. The last time this happened I stopped and put it back into gear, however, as soon as I tried to throttle the machine would die. I turned it on again with no problems put it back into high and it died again. Once again I turned it on with no problems put it into low instead and it worked fine with no problem. I drove in low down the road slowly for a little and then shifted back into high with no issues.
I plan on working on it this weekend and would just like some opinions or feedback from anyone who may have experienced these problems before. I'm very mechanically inclined but im unsure of exactly where to start as this is the first Polaris ATV that I've owned. Any feedback is appreciated and thanks in advance

I am having an issue with a hs500. I bought it broken and have been trying to get it running. It seems to be starving for fuel. If I put my hand over the intake it will crank but will not run for very long because I'm not able to get the correct airflow with my hand. The things I have done so far are. Replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, mass airflow sensor, idle air adjuster, fuel injector, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the ecu, and still the same issue. I notice the injector does not spray when removed from the head. I dont know if that is common.

I am out of ideas on what to do next. I have removed the fuel line from the injector and it is getting plenty of fuel. If anyone has an idea on what could possibly be the issue I would be happy to try anything at this point.

Hi everyone, I’m new here and new to 4 wheelers. Just got a Yamaha bear tracker 250 and joined here to see if I could get some help.
The motor runs and it drives if it up on jackstands but if you get on and try to ride it, it starts to drive but then quits after a foot or two and dies out and won’t drive. The guy I got it from said he was running and using it shifting through all the gears great and he started it up the next day and it started this.
He told me he thought it was the U joint on the driveshaft. He said it was probably worn and needed to be replaced.
I just finished pulling the swing arm and rear end assembly to check out the U joint and there’s no play in it. It’s tight and not nearly enough play to be loose enough to not catch and go.
Any ideas on what it could actually be?
      Thanks
      Timothy
