How do I know when to replace them? I know it should seem easy and obvious, but I'm really at a loss here. My chain, when held sideways in mid-air, bends at a curved 90 degree angle. It seems pretty loose , i.e. everything moves kinda side to side. I'm guessing thats bad, however my sprockets look better. The rear sprocket has no curved teeth, however it is showing signs of slight wear because on one side of the tooth it is slightly curved and the other side it is slightly flat. Also, the front sprocket has slightly hooked teeth, but they are still thick. If all this stuff is "slightly", can I just leave it? Also, the rear sprocket hub has a couple cm's of free play forwards and backwards on the axle. Is that bad too? The chain seems like its the worst of all, but people tell me to not just replace the chain, but also the sprockets. I have three machines and cant afford to do that. Advice?

On my dirt bike, the chain is exactly the opposite of the one on my YFZ. It is sturdy, and nothing really moves; however it seems so "sturdy" that the chain gets kinked in some areas. Instead of replacing the chain, can I just give it a quick oil and be done with it?

Hello I just bought my son a 1998 kingquad 300. The brakes do not work but other than that we just want to learn all we can about it.  To keep it up and going.

Hey all, just posting to introduce and get ball rolling on the required number of posts to download a freakin manual. Recently picked up an 86 LT230S for $800, runs OK and kids having some fun on it so far, but it needs some work. I did an oil and filter change, other than a rough idle it's not bad, ordered some new front tires as those are thrashed, and getting left rear looked at as it has a slow leak and was somehow mounted backwards! Not sure how that happens and nobody noticed. Anyway, yeah sure I'll be posting more specific questions as I get into it, hope to just have it solid enough for kids to rip around at grandpas.

I'm repairing a 96 Timberwolf 2x4. Many years ago a dog chewed the wires that go from stator to the rectifier/regulator, and I've had to use the pull start ever since. Ive since lost the plug for the stator and on the wiring harness side. I'm ordering a new stator that will also come with the female plug that I need to fix it on the wiring harness side, but I have no clue in what position to put those 3 white wires(ones I'm holding with electrical tape on them) back into the new plug. Since they're all the same color, does it matter? Any info on this or pictures anyone has of their own will be very much appreciated.
