metal, fiber, metal, fiber, make sure they are staggered. And when you install all new plates, you are gonna need to adjust the linkage! Look in your book and adjust the linkage to specs. Your new clutch SHOULD have come with complete instructions from Barnett...also, if you have AutoZone motor oil in it, drain it out right now! and go get the proper oil from Yamaha. It costs more but car oil has additives that will shorten the life of that expensive clutch you just bought. Let us know if you cant figure it out

Is the small plate the metal ones? I'm almost positive the fiber/friction plate is first and last. This thread seems to back me up. According to some of the posters there are two plates that are different from the rest...they go first and last. If you give me a plate count of each plate (both fiber/friction and metal) I'll tell you which one goes first.

It's been about 20 years since I have been inside of a bike gearbox!

Back in the day we used to clean the plates with mineral spirits and sand them with fine paper to get a "new" friction surface on them. If the basket had wear we would remove it and file the edges down where the fiber plates would hit the basket and notch it. This was a cheap fix for a worn basket and clutch. We also use to put washers under the clutch springs to stiffen them up so that a worn clutch would grab better.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.

As the 2025 ATV Motocross National Championship Series (ATVMX), an AMA National Championship, got underway with back-to-back Florida AMA Pro only events, it was evident that Phoenix Racing Yamaha’s Joel Hetrick picked up where he left off last season.View the full article

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i just picked this up. was told ran fine but overheating issues led to replacing head gasket and head. has not ran since. he is not a mechanic but helped someone else who he could not get back to finish job, got aggravated and put up for sale. i was thinking timing issues. i have 110-120psi on all 3 cylinders so i think valves are correct. dont know about distributor yet. however i have no spark. i have no power going to ignition coil. tried to follow white wire but gets lost in wire harness. does anyone have a wiring diagram? can anyone tell me what conditions have to be met before starting. motor turns over so i would think all safeties are met but you never know.
