My good friend picked up a 2012 grizzly 700 with 20 hours on it for 5,000.00 it was a repo! The ride was smoother it felt lite in the front when turning my Prairie seems like a workout. Then it came down to you wanna run'em why not was my answer he was about a quad & 1/2 in front of me and said go and took off so I had to try and catch up & pass him and that didn't happen I caught up but didn't get by him. Round 2 he didn't get a jump start & my old Prairie took the win. I think the V-Twin engine just seems to have more torque over the single cylinder. I thought for sure he would win.

:yes:the V-twin in our prairies has more torque and a few more hp.. and it is alot more stable at high speeds in the woods and twisty trails .. it will also climb alot steeper hills with out wanting to roll over backwards .. it also has alot better engine breaking ..and will slide the rear around like a sport quad ..and do donuts easyer ... i have ridden both and still like the old strate axle prairie over any of the independant rear utility atv's .. the only draw back is less ground clearance ... but bigger and more aggressive tires even that out alot ... and if you add aftermarket exhaust and jet kit and do a clutch kit or clutch mods it will even hang with the bigbore 800cc machines in the woods and trails ..cause they are no ware near as stable at high speeds as our old prairies ...

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.

I'm working on my uncles grizzly and it sparks once on initial cranking then no more after that. If I let off the start button then press the start button again it will spark once then stop sparking. I was wondering if anyone seen this issue before.  Also I've never used forums before so sorry if this question is in the wrong location.

Hi all - I recently had a shop fix this quad and it hasn't been right since. The jug was resealed as it was leaking, the rings were replaced, and the valve stem seals replaced. Shop said the cylinder walls were great so nothing was done there. The motor still smokes, heavily on startup and all but quits once warmed up. Enough that I can live with it if I can fix what I came to ask about. I mentioned this work because since I've gotten it back it seems like it has power but tops out at a much slower speed than before. It's old so I don't have a speedo but I pulled out my phone at it tops out at 25 mph. I know before the work, I was getting up to 45+ mph... It's so bad, my 10 year old daughter is pulling away and straight leaving me in the dust with her governed Polaris 90.
Given the work done, what are some thing I could be the cause of such a drastic difference? I immediately thought timing but the marks appear to match up with a youtube video I found... no idea if it's correct though. It sat in another shop for 2 months and they gave me an $800 quote just for the starter... it pull starts fine.
FYI: I would take it back to the original shop to figure out but I had some issues that make them a no-go for me.

Does any know what the stock jets are in the twin peaks?
I bought the bike with a pipe on it and want to go back to stock setup.
