new to site !!

Power washed a 2006 500 h/o efi x2 last night and now it wont start havent really looked at it but thought i might figure out where to start.

Started fine before I washed with power washer under the seat.

Turn key on fuel pump cycles and then just clicks at solinoid as I try to start it, doesnt seem to be sending power to starter!!then get this weird buzzing, clicking sound coming from somewhere by the carberator. battery is good load tested it fully charged. quick pull with the cord fires right up.

Again it was late last night never really spent any time to check all connections.

Never had this problem with my arcticat hahah!!!

Thanks

That was supposed to say where water WASN'T suppoed to be. Most MFG'S warn against using high pressure spray when cleaning your quad, in some cases it can even void your warranty. I'm guilty of doing it too but I try to stay away from electrical components while cleaning with the pressure washer. Hopefully just letting it dry out fixes your problem. You could try pulling the fusebox cover and starter relay to let it air dry even quicker. DON'T try drying it out with compressed air!! That can push water around even worse.

yes, like Mudflap64 said, stay away from electrical boxes. my dad told me as a kid when washing/spraying anything with a motor, to have it running while doing so. i use the pressure washer to clean my bike and i let it idle and had no problems ... (knock wood)

Thanks for the Help guys.. After I got home took it all apart cleaned all terminals and it still did the same thing gave the starter another really good hit and whola it started to work again I guess it was a fluke and there is a bad spot in the starter.

Thanks Again Great Forum..

Hi my name is Greg and I just acquired a free 2000 yamaha kodiac 400 4x4 with the ultramatic transmission that does not run. I plan to get it going and use it around my property

I hadn't driven my Kodiak for a two months, and since it was low on fuel, the first thing I did was filled it up to maybe 7/8 full. Getting ready to start it, I rotated the fuel selector switch to "on" and within seconds I smelled and saw fuel dripping onto the floor. I quickly turned it off and the fuel gradually stopped - I can repeat this.
The fuel is flowing from the hose that is connected to the bottom of the carb, and routes around to the left side toward the wheel well. Any idea what's going on here? It ran fine the last time I had it out.
      Thanks...

Bought 4 wheeler for kids. Used to run and soon as it was put in gear it died. I have put new carburater, new plug and battery. The neutral light won't come on. I replaced the solenoid, then the positive battery cable and today put new relay assembly on. Still no neutral light. Not getting any juice and I don't know why.

I bought a 1996 Sportsman 500 4x4 about a month ago, and I love it. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing a few problems with the high-range gear. The first problem is that the gear selector will intermittently pop out of high and into neutral. This problem will sometimes occur when starting from a stop and sometimes will also occur while at cruising speed. The last time this happened I stopped and put it back into gear, however, as soon as I tried to throttle the machine would die. I turned it on again with no problems put it back into high and it died again. Once again I turned it on with no problems put it into low instead and it worked fine with no problem. I drove in low down the road slowly for a little and then shifted back into high with no issues.
I plan on working on it this weekend and would just like some opinions or feedback from anyone who may have experienced these problems before. I'm very mechanically inclined but im unsure of exactly where to start as this is the first Polaris ATV that I've owned. Any feedback is appreciated and thanks in advance
