Ok I went out on the river the other day and road around and it was wet and raining off and on my 4 wheeler was running fine and i cleaned it off that night and I went out to run the mudd off the tires today and it wont start it sounds like the starter is locked uped I tried the pull start but it wont even budge at all my motor isnt locked uped on it is it?

first thing to try would be to pull the spark plug to release the compression and try to pull start it. It is possible it could be water locked. This is an easy check and then move on from there. Add a little more info as to what kind of quad you have, what size engine and so on. The more experienced members will want more info to help you out better.

Well i was driving around with it on a trailer and i stopped at a friends and it tried to start so im sure it was the starter now the problem is it wont start it keep turning over but just wont fire off. This might sound stupid but where is the spark plug on the 4 wheeler

Its a 2005 Arctic cat 500cc 4x4

look for the wire, it should go to the top of the motor somewhere near the front. look around towards the left side under the fender towards the front. That is the left if you were sitting on the quad. even if the starter is no good you should still be able to pull start it. If you are having an issue with it not starting pulling the plug to see it you are getting spark is a good idea anyway.

Good luck.

good job wylde! helping fix another CAT...as far as getting the wire they dont just sell it..its integrated inside the CDI box...you might be able to use the same boot and re-attach the metal piece to the wire but i doubt it...might just have to buy a new CDI box

good luck its not your traditionally splice..and run with it....but hey if you can get it to work more power to ya! and you got a nice cheap fix! just put di-electric grease on it if you like playing around water

Its not integrated with the CDI, The coil with wire is part #32 on this diagram. Here are the part numbers. Go to a local Arctic Cat dealer or order online at countrycat.net

32 3530-027 COIL, IGN $83.97

33 3430-009 SEAL, HIGH TENSION CORD $3.65

34 3430-007 CAP ASSY, SPARK PLUG $9.00

35 3430-008 SEAL SPARK PLUG $4.24

Do you know by chance where I can find just the wire and boot for the spark plug?

I broke the boot on the 366 model and the option was to either replace the boot or replace the whole thing (coil, wire, and boot) for like $4 more. Seems like in his case from the diagram he can just replace the wire and the boot, the coil for his machine is a lot more money then it was for the 366 model.

Hi my name is Greg and I just acquired a free 2000 yamaha kodiac 400 4x4 with the ultramatic transmission that does not run. I plan to get it going and use it around my property

Bought 4 wheeler for kids. Used to run and soon as it was put in gear it died. I have put new carburater, new plug and battery. The neutral light won't come on. I replaced the solenoid, then the positive battery cable and today put new relay assembly on. Still no neutral light. Not getting any juice and I don't know why.
