Well I'm new to the forum here, so first off hello to everyone. Well here is my really long story. I have a 1992 Timberwolf 250 and I'm having some problems with it. First off the starter is acting up. It will make a grinding noise when I am cranking in over, but not all the time, its only about 40% of the time. So I figured my starter drive was missing some teeth or the reducer gear or flywheel were. When I took the starter of everything was looking strong with no chips or missing teeth. After this I put the starter back on and with the spark plug out it would turn over and never miss a beat. As soon as I put the plug back in, it does the same thing, grinds 40% of the time. Is my starter drive bad or the whole starter? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Welcome to QUADCRAZY! Sounds like a bad starter. With the plug out there is no compression and it's much easier for the starter to turn. With it in under compression it's harder...maybe the starter then starts skipping. Is it shimmed or anything?

I don't see any shims on it. I've asked some other people and they think its the starter or starter drive. A new one is only $50 so I might as well put a new one on there. My other problem is that it won't run or start should I say. I got it to run on an idle, but as soon as I gave it any throttle it died. Then it wouldn't fire again. Could my timing be off? It ran good before.

1st problem, Does anyone know where I can find a stock carb for my Timberwolf, I have tried two different aftermarket carbs and they both suck. The machine runs great until it gets good and warm, then it keeps stalling unless I feather the throttle. it will even stall while I'm trying to go from 1st to reverse or vise versa. I took it to a buddy of mine who is a bike mechanic for years, and he told me try to find a factory carb. When I look online from dealers it says "NOT AVAILABLE" anyone have any suggestions ?

2nd, The small tab on the rear axle for towing is to short for even pulling my small yard trailer, I can't even turn a little bit and hit hits. I tried making an extension which worked great as far as length, but it bends the tab and then the extension drags the ground. I have an idea of what to do to fix it, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and see how you solved it.

So I decided to pick up a small trailer if I could get one for the right price.  I found this one for a few hundred bucks on Craig’s list.  It is  a galvanized trailer which is exactly what I was looking for. The wood was shot and needed some minor repairs which I could care less about as long as the chassis was good.
I striped it down and put a new deck on. I had some vinyl realtree graphics that I had laying around so I added them to the fenders which I think worked out well. Very happy with this little guy.
I'm having the iron workers at my jobmake me up a few lightweight side rails that will have a 22 degree bend in them to accommodate the tires that slightly hang over the edge and will incorporate some tie down points as well.

I have a 1992 Kawasaki Bayou, and every time I try to replace the fuse on the starter relay, it blows immediately. I have replaced the battery, and have exhausted all of my ideas. Any help is greatly appreciated!
