A dune hill with trees on it, start at the bottom at WOT all the way up! Just gotta weave through the trees. Lots of fun! Your defiantly in control, just have to be a bit more cautious.

you talkin' to me? i thought you were talkin' to me, but i don't know if you're talkin' to me... :cute:

if they are the pics i posted, it is prince edward county, ontario. i had gone to that beach to camp and swim since i was knee high to a grasshopper. it used to be called the 'oulet' provincial park, and there was another area of park called the 'sandbanks'. well, everyone likes to rename things, so, they renamed the parks sandbanks east and west sectors...

Is that area still used for quads or did they make it a nature.preserve?

i doubt you could get too far in there on a quad or bike now unfortuately, yogis all over there now, and this was 40 years ago when i had my bikes, and a few years after...

i guess you could get to some secluded spots, but the yogis have bikes now too for fish and game....

Most of my riding time had been at Glamis, California in the 80's. I live in southwestern Indiana now, and am planning on going to Lynnville, IN for the first time, when it gets a little nicer

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.

I bought a 1996 Sportsman 500 4x4 about a month ago, and I love it. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing a few problems with the high-range gear. The first problem is that the gear selector will intermittently pop out of high and into neutral. This problem will sometimes occur when starting from a stop and sometimes will also occur while at cruising speed. The last time this happened I stopped and put it back into gear, however, as soon as I tried to throttle the machine would die. I turned it on again with no problems put it back into high and it died again. Once again I turned it on with no problems put it into low instead and it worked fine with no problem. I drove in low down the road slowly for a little and then shifted back into high with no issues.
I plan on working on it this weekend and would just like some opinions or feedback from anyone who may have experienced these problems before. I'm very mechanically inclined but im unsure of exactly where to start as this is the first Polaris ATV that I've owned. Any feedback is appreciated and thanks in advance

having an issue with the unit when running under a load up a hill or in high gear, seems like the belt is slipping, there is a clapping sound coming from the primary clutch like it releases and snaps back in. i don't think I should have a noise like that. this is a friends unit and he has already replaced the primary twice with the same result.
not sure where to look next
