If the battery isn't fully charged, the FI won't operate. The motor will crank, but it will not fire. I would start there, put the battery on a charger to make sure it is 100% charged and then try. I was told the battery needed to be put on a tender once a month to keep in in top shape to avoid that problem. I haven't done, it, nor have I had any problems, but I do know that the FI needs a certain amount of voltage to operate. You also might check your kill switch and attatched wiring, make sure all the ignition components are plugged in tight. The motor will still crank if the ignition is off. Good luck, I know how much of a pain it is to take the tank off.

I think my battery might be bad. I charged it, changed plug and when I try to start it, I put a voltage meter on it and it shows 12.7 V. But when I hit the start switch the voltage drops down to 8.8 to 9.3. Will that not fire up my FI's? HELP!

Have the battery load tested, it is free at most auto parts stores or repair shops. As far as an easy way to get to the plug, there is none, you need to take the tank off, it literally sits right on top of the plug. There are instructions on how to remove the tank in the owners manual. It is a pain, but after you have done it a few times, it becomes routine. Since it sounds like you have never been in there, you will want to pop the vavle cover off and check the valves while you have the tank off. If the valves are too tight, that could be causing your starting problem too. That usually is a progressive issue, the machine becomes hard to start before it stops starting completely, but I wouldn't rule it out. Either way, I'm sure it is time to check your valves anyway. Better safe than sorry.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

So I’ve got a 2000 Honda 400ex absolutely love it!! I’ve had it for about a month, I ride with bruteforce 750’s, outlander 850’s and 1000 sxs’s and I was thinking of getting a trx450r carb and a full hmf exhaust. And probably doing the air box mod too, how much power would this give my 400? Just a little different or a big difference? Cuz if it’s not much of a different I’ll just stick with my dg slip on..... thanks!

Bought 4 wheeler for kids. Used to run and soon as it was put in gear it died. I have put new carburater, new plug and battery. The neutral light won't come on. I replaced the solenoid, then the positive battery cable and today put new relay assembly on. Still no neutral light. Not getting any juice and I don't know why.

I finally got around to working on the TRX, this has been an ongoing problem with this machine. This is a machine that we keep on my Fathers property, i dont see it that often, my brother haad it professionally repaired last year and year before same problem, the new starter gears and bypass gears last about a year and the machine is not used that often, he said he was done with it , so i thought i should go take a look. Sure enough the gears were all malled again.

IMG_4910.mov   There is some slack in there but most is taken up by the gear cover,if anyone with history with these machines has had the same problem, let me know your findings. Where i am now im looking for finding replacement honda gears on Ebay and try those. I suspect the original was replaced with aftermarket gears years ago and they just worse quality as the years go by.
