Do aftermarket pads such as the sintered ones make that much of a difference in wear/life if you do a lot of mud and water riding? My girl and I both just went through our front brake pads in about 6 months and we only ride about once per month. We rarely ever use our front brakes because we both have the sealed wet rear brake which is more reliable and we do a thorough pressure washing after every ride. Just riding around with mud caked in there wore them down, I guess. I can't believe our pads are gone already.

That is strange, however, I am sure that a good quality aftermarket pad designed for extended life will last a bit longer that OEM pads. Also, could you please post the year, make and model of the ATV's you are referring to.

2008 yamaha big bear 400 4x4 and 2006 kawasaki prairie 360 4x4.

I got a lot of feedback from friends and from other forums about mud wearing pads down fast and the aftermarket pads only giving you a few more weeks of use in addition to wearing your rotors down since their made of harder material. I'll stick with the oem pads and just try to do a better job of keeping them clean.

You can buy the pad material and make your own.

My friend gets over 1000 miles out of his and mine with all the mud riding are lucky to see 400 miles. I started to take off the rims and wash the hub and brakes really well after every ride it seems to help some.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.
