Ive been working on a 93 Bayou and I need some help. You can start it just fine when its cold. But if you run it for less than 30 seconds then it will not restart by using the electric starter. It will turnover but not fire. But you can drift start it for less than 2 feet and it will run just fine. It runs just fine, but has that starting problem. Can you offer any advice?

Well it has fire when you use the start button but the thing wont start unless you drift start it and the starter works fine! I think something must be pullin some fire from the coil or something? i checked the pickup coil and it test right and i have spark on the plug when i use the start buttom but has to be drift started to work

Starter is working fine, dont think its a short.

After swapping parts with a running lakota, and by checking around with the voltmeter, we think it is the pick-up coil.

It has gotten to the point to where it will not run now. Which helps in diagnosing it. Ordered a pickup coil the other day. Hopefully that will fix it.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 1990 Bayou 220 that runs pretty well for it's age--needs a new muffler, but sounds tough.    Have had to start with a pull cord since I got it, and recently started troubleshooting the start button.  Finding a lot of information on this issue in the forum, but haven't been able to chase it down yet.  Got a new battery, new starter solenoid, and going to replace the starter relay this week, but not convinced that's going to do the trick, since I can't get the neutral light on when turning the key on.  I can start it by jumping the solenoid, but the 2 black wires to the relay do not activate the starter.  Bad ground or a short somewhere?  Is there a good way to just test the ground?
