That is exactly what you want. The straight paddles are more for off the line acceleration and the angled ones, like the sand star is more for carving bowls and such.

They are one of the best sand tires available. Skat trak makes some great one too.

the only problem i'm having is finding a rear rim for the quad. like you posted about the 11 inch rear stock so i'm looking for a 12x8 rear or something because itp has 22x11-12 rear sand stars but even the itp website only has 10s. i have no idea where to buy parts online.

You also want to make sure you get a wheel with the correct offset. The IRS quads use a rear wheel with alot of back spacing, so it has a drastic positive offset. If you buy normal rims, your machine may be close to a foot wider. Not only would that be a nuisance in tight spaces, the suspension will turn mushy and the handling may get wierd.

Itp made rims specificly for the 700xx!!!!!!!!!!!:aargh::aargh::aargh::aargh:

no need to yell. i cant find those anywhere not even on itp's website. douglas is coming out with some i ordered those since my local honda superstore couldnt find the itp's either lol its a pain in my a$$.

Try rocky mountain atv...and don't get the sand star's - molded tires suck.

Get the angle paddle skat traks.

So what makes these tires suck? I know plenty of people that run them and that are extremely happy with them.

If you are going to try and steer someone away from a product, why not supply some helpful info on why he shouldn't run them. THEY SUCK makes you sound like a little kid trying to do a review.

I could have used "stupid" but we'll get to that later.

They suck because they are heavy compared to a comparable buffed tire and they split, but most importantly because they are heavy. Ask most people who are serious about sand riding and they'll tell you that Sand Stars aren't any good for serious torque or horsepower. Anyone who has had a set for a while (myself included) will find that they start splitting right in the middle of the "v".

Let's talk about weight, everyone knows that if you free up unsprung weight it = free horsepower, so why do people spend all this money on pipes, programmers, cams and filters only to throw a set of heavy Sand stars on even heavier SS rims. That is just plain stupid. You can get the same "V" pattern on a shaved tire and still have the same "flickability" of the heavier-molded Sand Stars. Don't take my word for it though, ask around the other "dunatic" forums and you'll quickly see that people stray away from sand stars once they find out what is best.

I agree with you that there's a lot of people who like them - they're not as expensive as Skat Trak's "Edge" but IMO you get what you pay for.

Thanks, Scuzz! That's what I wanted to get out of you. Thank you for your view on them. I have never seen any split like you said. Not saying they don't just I've never seen it. I know they are heavy compared to some of the other brands, but not everyone can afford Skats.

That's kinda my point though, people spend money on things that make horsepower, just to take it away with heavier tires. They'll spend $300 on an exhaust and $200 on cams and throw a set of heavier tires when there's only a $80 difference between the 22x11x10 Sand Star's and the same sized Skat Trak Edges.

[these prices were pulled from Rocky Mountain ATV's website for a 450r.]

Most the people who buy them are like me. I go to the dunes 1 or 2 times a year. That doesn't justify and extra $160 bucks for some tires that are a bit a lighter that will get used a couple time a year.

It's only $80, not $160. It's only $40 a tire difference.

Even 80, I would rather spend the extra 80 on something I will use everytime I ride, not just 15-20 hours a year.

Just a matter of opinion.

I hear you. I ride sand about that much a month. If I were you I would buy paddles at all and just rent them when I got there.

paddles run about $420.00 a set.

If you get them from Rocky Mountain Atv now you can get them for $395 with free shipping and a $50 instant savings.

$345 aint bad....and it's shipped for that.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i just picked this up. was told ran fine but overheating issues led to replacing head gasket and head. has not ran since. he is not a mechanic but helped someone else who he could not get back to finish job, got aggravated and put up for sale. i was thinking timing issues. i have 110-120psi on all 3 cylinders so i think valves are correct. dont know about distributor yet. however i have no spark. i have no power going to ignition coil. tried to follow white wire but gets lost in wire harness. does anyone have a wiring diagram? can anyone tell me what conditions have to be met before starting. motor turns over so i would think all safeties are met but you never know.

I have just recently gotten a yamaha big bear 350 atv and I think the carburetor is a little off on its setting,bc it cuts out at full throttle and it makes a weird pluff kinda sound 3-4 seconds after I hit the kill switch to shut the atv off. I don't know why it's doing that so any help will be greatly appreciated.
