Awesome! I just checked this thing out on yamaha.com. Looks awesome, I used to have a 2005 Yamaha Kodiak that looks very similar to this with the exception of the plastic. I loved that machine, it was awesome. This thing is like a hybrid cross between a utility and a sport quad. Should be an awesome ride, let us know how you like it. :D

She liked it allot!!! However, she was a Bit Intimidated by the Large Size(Kinda like me)LMFAO!!!!

She logged about 60 miles on it....Her and I went out to the Back area Frequently...She Wouldnt climb any hills like she would on her old Bike...She said she wasnt used to the bike yet and didnt feel comfortable so I didnt Push the Issue...I just wanted her to have fun and she did....I Must confess though.....I did Ride the Damn thing....and Here is my Review...

Out in the Flats(Beach, Sand Highway, ETC.) it gets up and Goes pretty well....However, I felt like I needed to Shift all the time..I never felt like I hit a "Powerband" and I lost my Sense of Speed...I found myself Second guessing if I had the momentum to make it up a Hill..I did not like that Feeling....A couple of times I had to Turn around before the top...Me not being a Quad Rider and it being a 550 LB machine wasnt Easy...LOL!!! In Two Wheel Drive going down hill with no Accelerator was pretty KEWL...It Decelerated and didnt really need to Brake.

I also tried out the 4X4 part of it too....I got Stuck Immediately...Thank god for Reverse...Did I mention this Freakin thing is 550 LBS??? Im not impressed with the Limited Slip Diff. I think if it had a Locker I would have been able to Pull....Or maybe if it wasnt some Soft Sand it would have done ok....Ill tell you what though....Going down a Nice Dune about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle then let off the Gas in 4X4 isnt cool....The damn thing Decelerated so fast the Front end almost Buried itself almost throwing me off the Front...

All in all,,,Its a Good Machine....I was able to take the Garbage out with it...I was able to Take the Dog for a Ride on the Beach....I was Able to Actually Drink my Coffee, Ride, and look at Bikini's Joggin Down the Beach at Sunrise....That right there was worth the Purchase price....LOL!!!!

My sportsman 700 (closer to 700 lbs) has an engine braking system that took a long time to get used to also. I learned (I'm sure your wife will too) not to let off the gas as fast. If your at 1/4 throttle slowly let off, rather than instantly no throttle.

quick question:

with your push button 4x4, as your riding and you push the button, say going around 30 MPH, does it switch right away? or does it wait till you decelerate to activate the 4x4?

Per the Manual......If I remember correctly.....You can NOT Swith it into or out of 4X4 at speeds more than 3 MPH....Hope that answered your Question....

YBB........I hide it in the Hauler.....I let her park it in there with my Trike just as long as there is no possible way they could ever Touch each other:wink:

For all you know the wolverine is having it's way with your trike every night. It's like the light in the frig, how do you know what goes on in there when the lights out!!!

Well,,,,,Its a Sport Utility......So for an Automatic it is fast enough to do what we need it to do.....I sure isnt as powerful as my Buddies Griz......However,,,,For Tight Tech Trails, Open Dunes with some Climbs in the middle it does Great!!! Very Nimble....But the Freakin thing is HEAVY!!!! I ride it(Yes,,,,You read that right) in the mornings when I am camped at Pismo Beach.....Its kinda neat to Throw the dog in front of me and Sip on a Cup of Coffee while Cruizing down the beach:wink:

1st problem, Does anyone know where I can find a stock carb for my Timberwolf, I have tried two different aftermarket carbs and they both suck. The machine runs great until it gets good and warm, then it keeps stalling unless I feather the throttle. it will even stall while I'm trying to go from 1st to reverse or vise versa. I took it to a buddy of mine who is a bike mechanic for years, and he told me try to find a factory carb. When I look online from dealers it says "NOT AVAILABLE" anyone have any suggestions ?

2nd, The small tab on the rear axle for towing is to short for even pulling my small yard trailer, I can't even turn a little bit and hit hits. I tried making an extension which worked great as far as length, but it bends the tab and then the extension drags the ground. I have an idea of what to do to fix it, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and see how you solved it.

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

Troubleshooting a no spark issue, was running OK, maybe a little rich, turned it off, now no spark. I've checked/ohmed out the main key switch, the start/stop switch, neutral switch, brake switch - all good. It will crank the starter, but no spark with the starter or when I try the pull start. I've checked all fuses and diodes. Swapped battery. New plug. New coil. Swapped in a used CDI - no help. Traced, removed, cleaned, reattached all grounds. Removed things like my winch from the circuits to be sure a bad relay or something was dragging it down. When testing voltages, the orange wire going from the CDI to the ignition coil shows no/very low voltage-shouldn't it have 12V on it? Sometimes I get a very weak, intermittent glow on my spark tester, but not enough to fire the plug. I've checked continuity on just about all wires in the harness. Checked/cleaned/lubed w dielectric grease- all connections, redid a few that looked old/dirty. I've checked the stator resistances, all good, but have a stator and rectifier ordered anyway, will arrive Sunday. I verified that the rectifier has a voltage output back to charge the battery while cranking - 10.5-11V, low, but expected while starter is engaged. What else can I check as part of troubleshooting? I have a Haines service manual, but the 1999 350 4x4 seems to be an odd model, there isn't an exact electrical diagram for it, but found one for another year that has all the same number of wires and same color wires, so I've referenced that. Any hints, tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

i just picked this up. was told ran fine but overheating issues led to replacing head gasket and head. has not ran since. he is not a mechanic but helped someone else who he could not get back to finish job, got aggravated and put up for sale. i was thinking timing issues. i have 110-120psi on all 3 cylinders so i think valves are correct. dont know about distributor yet. however i have no spark. i have no power going to ignition coil. tried to follow white wire but gets lost in wire harness. does anyone have a wiring diagram? can anyone tell me what conditions have to be met before starting. motor turns over so i would think all safeties are met but you never know.
