I have an 07 Sportsman efi with about 250 miles on it. It has not started for a couple months. When I turn the key the display doesnt light up. I can hear the fuel pump and a tick-tick-tick noice for several seconds. When I turn the key...nothing. I also cannot pull start it. I have replaced the solenoid charged the battery, and checked all connections. Any thoughts for me?

The first thing you will need to figure out is why the display is not working. I would assume that if no power is getting to the display then you have no power to the other electronics as well. Start by checking voltage at the battery then working out from there.

I can tell you that when my battery went bad in my 07 Sportsman 500, it was a PITA to pull start. Also the display and running were affected.

I have a 2007 500 EFI that had the same problem. It was sputtering before it wouldnt start. I make sure I keep the battery charged using a battery tender. Last time out I turned the key and nothing other than the tic tic tic of the electric fuel pump building pressure, but would not start. The display wouldnot show anything, the headlights would not work. I made sure the kill switch was not off, so I was perplexed.

It turned out that the PDM, power distribution module, was bad. It replaced all of the fuses, fuseable links, etc that were on the earlier modules. Checked it and was getting power in, but not out. Replaced it and bike starts right up. $450 for the repair at the dealer, but he covered half as it was a used bike with 50 hours when I bought it. He didnt have too as it was out of warranty, but he is a good guy.

You'll find the PDM right above the radiator, and it is a sealed unit, supposedly cant get water in it.

Hope this helps.

I hadn't driven my Kodiak for a two months, and since it was low on fuel, the first thing I did was filled it up to maybe 7/8 full. Getting ready to start it, I rotated the fuel selector switch to "on" and within seconds I smelled and saw fuel dripping onto the floor. I quickly turned it off and the fuel gradually stopped - I can repeat this.
The fuel is flowing from the hose that is connected to the bottom of the carb, and routes around to the left side toward the wheel well. Any idea what's going on here? It ran fine the last time I had it out.
      Thanks...

I bought a 1996 Sportsman 500 4x4 about a month ago, and I love it. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing a few problems with the high-range gear. The first problem is that the gear selector will intermittently pop out of high and into neutral. This problem will sometimes occur when starting from a stop and sometimes will also occur while at cruising speed. The last time this happened I stopped and put it back into gear, however, as soon as I tried to throttle the machine would die. I turned it on again with no problems put it back into high and it died again. Once again I turned it on with no problems put it into low instead and it worked fine with no problem. I drove in low down the road slowly for a little and then shifted back into high with no issues.
I plan on working on it this weekend and would just like some opinions or feedback from anyone who may have experienced these problems before. I'm very mechanically inclined but im unsure of exactly where to start as this is the first Polaris ATV that I've owned. Any feedback is appreciated and thanks in advance

I finally got around to working on the TRX, this has been an ongoing problem with this machine. This is a machine that we keep on my Fathers property, i dont see it that often, my brother haad it professionally repaired last year and year before same problem, the new starter gears and bypass gears last about a year and the machine is not used that often, he said he was done with it , so i thought i should go take a look. Sure enough the gears were all malled again.

IMG_4910.mov   There is some slack in there but most is taken up by the gear cover,if anyone with history with these machines has had the same problem, let me know your findings. Where i am now im looking for finding replacement honda gears on Ebay and try those. I suspect the original was replaced with aftermarket gears years ago and they just worse quality as the years go by.

I am having an issue with a hs500. I bought it broken and have been trying to get it running. It seems to be starving for fuel. If I put my hand over the intake it will crank but will not run for very long because I'm not able to get the correct airflow with my hand. The things I have done so far are. Replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, mass airflow sensor, idle air adjuster, fuel injector, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the ecu, and still the same issue. I notice the injector does not spray when removed from the head. I dont know if that is common.

I am out of ideas on what to do next. I have removed the fuel line from the injector and it is getting plenty of fuel. If anyone has an idea on what could possibly be the issue I would be happy to try anything at this point.
