I had a small sapling / tree get between my brush guard and the fender flexing the fender so it broke the headlight attachment point from the fender. Any suggestion on how to repair? What kind of plastic is the fender made from for gluing? I need help in fixing this problem correctly.

Yes, please post the year make and model of the atv. Harbor Freight tools carries plastic welders for pretty cheap, it would work much better than trying to glue it back on. I would recommend one of the units that use compressed air, they get better penetration than a hot iron alone. There are better types out there but they are much more expensive.

What you recommended is exactly what I was thinking. How am I going to find out the type of plastic they use on the fenders? Do you have any experience on these type of fenders? Not specifically welding the attachments back on for the headlights but anything one the plastic fenders / body parts. I feel this would be the best fix but I want as much information as I can get before I start any repair. I hate doing things twice.

Most ATV fenders are made out of polyethylene or PE. It is an oily plastic and fuses easily with heat, so they should weld well. There are usually three different types of PE, high, medium, and low density. I would think that atv fenders are probably low density, but they might be medium. Either way, you can weld them together, we fuse high density to medium density all the time at work, you just have to put the heat on the hd side for a bit longer than the md side. Plastic welding with a hot air machine is done like gas or TIG welding where you have your heat source in one hand and your filler material in the other. The idea is to heat the surface of the work area to a molten state without pushing a hole all the way through the material, then you add the filler material to the heated puddle and melt, or "wash" it in with the heat source. Like any type of welding, practice makes perfect. I would try welding on a similar material to practice before you take it to your quad.

Thanks for the info. I was checking other sites and you confirmed what they all said. Except you explained it better. Going to Harbor Freight Tuesday to get the plastic welder. I also tore off the plastic skid plate at the Hatfield McCoy trails in July and the welder will be the only way to properly fix it.

Great explanation DD!

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i just picked this up. was told ran fine but overheating issues led to replacing head gasket and head. has not ran since. he is not a mechanic but helped someone else who he could not get back to finish job, got aggravated and put up for sale. i was thinking timing issues. i have 110-120psi on all 3 cylinders so i think valves are correct. dont know about distributor yet. however i have no spark. i have no power going to ignition coil. tried to follow white wire but gets lost in wire harness. does anyone have a wiring diagram? can anyone tell me what conditions have to be met before starting. motor turns over so i would think all safeties are met but you never know.

I have just recently gotten a yamaha big bear 350 atv and I think the carburetor is a little off on its setting,bc it cuts out at full throttle and it makes a weird pluff kinda sound 3-4 seconds after I hit the kill switch to shut the atv off. I don't know why it's doing that so any help will be greatly appreciated.
