So I will describe my last 2 rides so you know what the conditions were. The first was my last race, very wet and muddy, no crashes. She ran like a raped ape, no problems at all. The next ride was some trail riding that was wet and very rocky. I bounced off of a rock pretty good on my belly skid plate. I stopped to check for damage, none, then I turn my key back to start and I lose all electrical.

I was able to pop start it and get it back to the truck. I find later that the main fuse is blown, replace it. The quad starts up just fine everything is gravy. Several hours later I turn the key on again and blow the fuse instantly. There was no riding or bouncing between the 2 starts.

:aargh:WHY?

If it's in the shop...they should be able to find it. It might be your starter causing a huge load when you turn the key to start it. Disconnect the cable/connectors from the starter and turn that key on..see if the fuse blows. if it doesn't blow, your starter is the issue.

Bot that sux. It does sound like a wire got pinched when you hit the rock but if you and the mechanic can't find anything I don't know. I hope you have some luck finding it soon.

I found the problem, after 2 weeks in the shop, they found nothing. I went and got it from them and took it to my racing buddy. In 15 minutes he determined that I need a new start button. The spring has collapsed causing the contacts in there to short out.

Not quite. I have to get the part and install it. Of course I can't buy just the button piece, I have to buy the whole switch assembly.

figures although glad you found the fix man nobody wants to be without their ride!

My racing buddy set up a toggle switch out of a police car on my handle bars and wired it to my starter. It works just as good if not better than stock. But it is just a temporary fix until I get the actual part. This way i can race.

That's good troubleshooting by your friend!

disconnect either side of your battery and put a voltmeter, yes voltmeter in series with the side you disconnected. IF you see a voltage that is not good. Start pulling fuses one at a time until the voltage is no longer present on the voltmeter, once you have identified where you can then narrow it down to what. I really hope this helps you out, I have used it on automobiles several times.

I thank you for your input, however I found the problem. It was actually my start button for the electric start. The spring collapsed causing a constant contact and then riding in wet conditions blew the fuse from moisture staying in there.

Have you ever been on the trail and your tire valve goes bad. No way to break down the wheel and replace it. A lot of you probably know about this already i had heard of it but never used one. Just punch out the old one insert and tighten down the nut

1st problem, Does anyone know where I can find a stock carb for my Timberwolf, I have tried two different aftermarket carbs and they both suck. The machine runs great until it gets good and warm, then it keeps stalling unless I feather the throttle. it will even stall while I'm trying to go from 1st to reverse or vise versa. I took it to a buddy of mine who is a bike mechanic for years, and he told me try to find a factory carb. When I look online from dealers it says "NOT AVAILABLE" anyone have any suggestions ?

2nd, The small tab on the rear axle for towing is to short for even pulling my small yard trailer, I can't even turn a little bit and hit hits. I tried making an extension which worked great as far as length, but it bends the tab and then the extension drags the ground. I have an idea of what to do to fix it, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and see how you solved it.

So I decided to pick up a small trailer if I could get one for the right price.  I found this one for a few hundred bucks on Craig’s list.  It is  a galvanized trailer which is exactly what I was looking for. The wood was shot and needed some minor repairs which I could care less about as long as the chassis was good.
I striped it down and put a new deck on. I had some vinyl realtree graphics that I had laying around so I added them to the fenders which I think worked out well. Very happy with this little guy.
I'm having the iron workers at my jobmake me up a few lightweight side rails that will have a 22 degree bend in them to accommodate the tires that slightly hang over the edge and will incorporate some tie down points as well.

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.
