My local motorcycle/ATV repair shop is telling me I need a whole new winch for my Suzuki 300 Quad. They hooked a power pack onto the two leads outside of the winch and nothing happened. Are thet lying to me? The winch and controller switch are connected to a small box beneath the hood. Could that be bad..? Lastley, The return switch itself has a lot of play in it and may not be making contact...I don't want to buy another $300.00 winch only to find out it was that little $30.00 celinoid, or what ever it may be...

Sounds like the sole or switch is the problem.

Here is a link to the winch I just bought. Works darn good to and it's not $300 either.

Wow...That looks just like mine..! Deos the switch come with that? And did you put it on your self?
Yes to all the above. If you buy a Grip winch read the directions carefully! The pictures suck , but the wording of the directions is outstanding.

That's a great price. Did you put it to the test yet?
My back yard has a 27 degree slope to it. So I hooked my winch to the back of the Yukon and winched up the slope. About 35 feet with front and rear brakes on. It worked 5 times better than my WARN winch ever did. The front tires were digging so good it pulled the back wheels off the ground. My quad weights about 450 lbs + me (220). I was pretty impressed with it!

Thanks Buck, but I don't think the handle bar switch comes with that one...
It comes with switch ,roller fair lead, mount plate for fair lead also. It is as complete as any winch on the market.

I have a Yamaha Timberwolf 4x4 250. I want to put a winch on it, but just wondering if the charging system will handle it or not ? Has anyone added one to their machine and have you had any issues?

I Was Riding By Myself. I was going through a Mud HOLE Either there was a log or a rock, or A Dip but just as I was almost through it, Machine, Rolled over on my right side, as soon as I contacted the ground, I Heard A SNAP! I got up, flipped the Quad back over. I had the wind knocked out of me.

I have a Sportsman 450 HO and almost killed my self when loading it on my truck with ramps.  It rolled off the top of the ramps and tailgate and nearly landed on me.  I now want to winch the ATV in to the truck.  My question is are the front side bed tiedowns in my 2011 RAM strong enough to winch to without distorting the hooks or sides of the bed?

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
