once it warms up some....

It probably will around late march but then Ill be getting a first car (truck) so I might get caught up in that.... my best guess is around April...

But an even better guess is that Ill run out of patience and get started in a week or two.

Keep us updated on what you do....Im interested in the Line-X end of things here...Ive been wanting to do a Frame up on my Trike....I always thought a Line-X would be nice....But Not sure how Much heavier it would be when done.....Something to think about...More Weight = slower and Lower....LOL!!

Posted

Id imagine it wouldnt be more than a 1/2 pound or maybe a pound (If it has that rubberized stuff) it would have to be like 20lbs to make a difference and theres no way it weighs that much

Posted
If I can remember correctly......For every added 10 lbs you drop 1HP.......

Every little bit helps.......

When I went to All Stainless on my Z......I Hollowed out the bolts Just to save some Weight....I know.....CRAZY!!!!

I wasnt saying it weighed 20 lbs, It probably weighs a 1/2 lb max

Posted

I understood Exactly what you were saying......

I know Line-X sprayed on at 1/8" in a Toyota Pick up weights about 60 pounds....

All Im trying to say is that if your into the HP thing.....Weight makes a Big difference and it needs to be watched....But you couldnt tell that by looking at me....LMAO!!!

Just a side note, hollowing out the stainless steel hardware is the most purpose-defeating thing you could do... and a waste of time, effort and money.

If you got stainless steel hardware because its stronger, you just made it weaker thatn factory hardware by drilling it.

If you bought stainless steel so it wont rust, it will because you drilled it. The only reason stainless steel doesnt rust is because it has a zinc coating and by drilling youve just grinded that coating away and exposed raw steel, anything freshly drilled is extremely prone to rusting

I Had a guy in Florida make them for me..He is an OLD SCHOOL Triker and has been making parts for the Tri-Z since 1985...Tried and True...they have been on my bike for 8 yrs now and holding strong,,,,It wasnt a Wast of anything for me....I got what I wanted and I am Happy with the Result....That is all that matters,,,,,As with your painting of the plastic,,,,If it makes you happy do it.....I have personally seen painted plastic and it looks Like Chit on a White Horse....Its a VOD,,,,,,(Victim of Distance)....Looks good from 50'....I have also seen guys restore their plastic by sanding it down....Looks like Almost perfect Stock when they are done.....Very labor intensive but worth it in my opinion.....

Im not here to butt heads with you.....I dont need to be SCHOOLED,,,,

Carry on with your Thread......

my guess u put it in a vice so it dont go anywere then u get a big flat head screwdriver and a hammer and hammer the clip on the top off... make sure u pull down the rubber washer underneath the clip at the top or it wont pop off... u also got to make sure the shocks r as loose as possible and u could use rope, zip ties or ratchet straps to compress the spring enough to get the clip off thats what u could also do...but thats what i think i dont know what mywifeknowseverythin does

wat type of paint r u using to do the springs?

Posted

My biggest trouble is compressing the springs, I like the zip-tie idea, Ill have to try that.

And I am using regular spray paint, others have used it on springs just fine and if it chips it is cheap to touch up.

Posted

yea was not surprised about that sorry man...uhh u got ratchet straps.... or u can get another person with u and they can use a crow bar or something like that to wedge in between the coils of the spring to way the spring down to pop off the clip..not the safest way mind u but if u dont want to get the spring compressor go for it just try not to kill urself..lol

I have a Sportsman 450 HO and almost killed my self when loading it on my truck with ramps.  It rolled off the top of the ramps and tailgate and nearly landed on me.  I now want to winch the ATV in to the truck.  My question is are the front side bed tiedowns in my 2011 RAM strong enough to winch to without distorting the hooks or sides of the bed?

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.

I’ve got a 2000 400ex with a dg slip on muffler, it came with he stock muffler on it but the previous owner had the dg in a box so I put it on. I’ve been riding it for the past month and a half and every time I let off it backfires, and the other day the backfires got way louder, 2x louder! I’m concerned that I may hurt my motor? Why does is backfire??? Thanks

My name says it all. I have a '03 Honda Sporttrax 400EX with a new aftermarket carb on it that seems to be having issues. I can start it but it idles really rough and when I give it throttle it just kills the engine. I have tried adjusting the idle screw but to no avail. I am in the San Diego Ca area.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I would also like to get an owners manual for the thing too but can't seem to find a downloadable one.

I recently bought a 87 TRX 250 not running of course, the owner had a brand new Key Switch on it.
I think it is the wrong one or wrong wire colors as the colors dont match up with wiring diagram i downloaded for it.
anyone have a pic of their ign switch wires where they connect with the wire colors for that model? I ended up leaving the black/w stripe and
green wire disconnected in order to hot wire it for other testing but would like to know as the colors dont match diagram.
