I have seen a few lift kits available that seem really basic and are very inexpensive ($70-100) So Ive been considering doing a 2" lift.

But WHAT are the disadvantages? does it weaken components?

yea that is true throttle contol is wat u really need to focus on with the rear drive shaft but since it is a solid rear axle u will be fine... for steering their will be some stress on the components but nothing that serious atleast i dont think so.. wat kinda lift r u getting anyway

I cant rember the brand, but it was a 2" lift kit that just used brackets to extend the shock mounts. just google Honda Recon Lift Kit and you'll see what I saw

Id like to get a set of 25" mudlite XTRs but I dont think they make them to fit my rims??? maybe Ill get another stock honda (bigger tires) set that someone took off.... I really want to get aggressive tires though

i have/had a 3" lift on my quad. went well for about a yr till something happend. i put on 27" tires same as u wanted mudlite xtr's with 14" ss rims. i did the clutch kit for the bigger tires put in a jet kit to change the computer a lil worked mint. became very top heavy when manuevering kinda didnt like that at all but got used to it. one day was out at a huge ride 80-100 people got about a mile into it and i pulled the bearing out of the outer spindle on the cv axle. sucked hardcore...blew the belt trying to get it back to my trailer...so basically it was a 300 dollar fix right off the bat...luckily knew a guy who does cv restoration and had an old belt that i scored from the dealership. did the whole thing myself for 160 bucks...good to go.....NOT! went to pull it out of the garage to park it...ripped it out again first time i turned the wheel....so long story short i took the lift out of the front so its just stock. bought the upgraded heavy duty front springs and thats how she is to this day...3" lift in the back heavy duty springs up font still sits level...read into it before u buy. 2" isnt that bad but its the headache of getting the parts and fixing this and that for nothing....see what u can fit for stock tires get a clutch kit and just keep it at that. unless ur going out and buying new longer axles i wouldnt recommend it.

the plow mounts under the engine so when it is dropped the springs are normal, but when I pull it up the front drops around 1-3" Im guessing. But with 80lbs on the rear it sits pretty level...

no not the differential it actually didnt pull out at all it wore down the bearings inside the outer cv joint. so the shavings bound up inside and made it seize. but only in one little spot. the new axle i had made up pulled out from the outer joint completely and wrapped around the control arm...returned it and got a new one. and yes it is an exact for the sportsman it is made for it. the second one has been fine so far but like i said i took the front lift out. my plow is about the same drops a couple inches even with the heavy duty srpings upfront...i dont keep weight in the back cause 4 wheel usually gets me everywhere and with the tires its pretty good

Hello all! I’m new to the 4 wheeler world, but not new to the mechanic world. I was a diesel mechanic for many years and last year got into jet skis. I just bought a 1987 Yamaha moto 4 350 and now learning the ins and outs of 2 stroke engines. Looking forward to learning all the things.
