What kind of budget are you on? What kind of riding do you do?

For basic trail riding I would say get an exhaust, aftermarket air filter with the carb jetted correctly. Get a new CDI box that will give you an increased ignition curve and a higher rev limiter. Those things would give you some major gains.

As for looks, I don't know what kind of bumpers and such are available for the Ozark but some new rims and tires always give it a sharp new look.

Try Plexus Plastic Polish to restore the look of your plastics.

No after market bumpers for it. Recreation tire and wheel can help you with aftemarket tires and wheels. You can also mount a winch on it. Any tire and wheel combo that fits a Honda Recon 250 will fit your Ozark. example

Heres is Toolmans 07 with the 23x8x12 an 23x10x12 swampfoxs on it. No rubbing anywhere on it. No lift kit on it either.

I found this picture on a thread from ATV Source.

As far as performance mods bots got that covered. Just watch how much you dump into it if you want a bigger quad. I have owned my Ozark since 02, with no problems. Personally I wouldn't mess with motor mods. My friend done that with a Recon , it helped. But for the money should of been put towards a bigger quad. Stock they are awsome , motor wise anyhow.

Check my profile and look at mine. I ride with 300Ex with no problems. Also the Z-250 and 250 EX won't out run me either out in the open or wooded trails. If you want a racing quad , you are better of spending your money on a sport quad, not an utility quad.

BB, they race 4x4's in GNCC races and the Baja. Why not?

I would start out with new shocks. If you can find some Elkas, Fox, Axis or I-shocks for them that will increase your handling and wheel travel. You increase handling you decrease lap times.

The Ozark is not a 4x4, and after market is very limited for the Ozark. Personally I would not spend much more than what a tire and rim combo. The engine performance up grades are not worth they money. By the time you upgrade the engine and shocks, you could of sold the Qzark and bought a 400Ex , Z-400, and ETC. I just hate to see him waste all that money and not have total satisfaction. Beleive me I have spent countles hours checking on upgrades for the Ozark.

Hello new to the site. I was googling recon and came upon my picture that was used in your post. It looks like your using a picture of my 07’ recon. Am I right?

First off it was copied an pasted from ATV Source. I did not notice the wording. I screwed up. Opps!!

By the way I corrected the wording for you. Thank you for pointing that out to me Toolman.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Hello all! I’m new to the 4 wheeler world, but not new to the mechanic world. I was a diesel mechanic for many years and last year got into jet skis. I just bought a 1987 Yamaha moto 4 350 and now learning the ins and outs of 2 stroke engines. Looking forward to learning all the things.

I finally got around to working on the TRX, this has been an ongoing problem with this machine. This is a machine that we keep on my Fathers property, i dont see it that often, my brother haad it professionally repaired last year and year before same problem, the new starter gears and bypass gears last about a year and the machine is not used that often, he said he was done with it , so i thought i should go take a look. Sure enough the gears were all malled again.

IMG_4910.mov   There is some slack in there but most is taken up by the gear cover,if anyone with history with these machines has had the same problem, let me know your findings. Where i am now im looking for finding replacement honda gears on Ebay and try those. I suspect the original was replaced with aftermarket gears years ago and they just worse quality as the years go by.

Hi everyone, I’m new here and new to 4 wheelers. Just got a Yamaha bear tracker 250 and joined here to see if I could get some help.
The motor runs and it drives if it up on jackstands but if you get on and try to ride it, it starts to drive but then quits after a foot or two and dies out and won’t drive. The guy I got it from said he was running and using it shifting through all the gears great and he started it up the next day and it started this.
He told me he thought it was the U joint on the driveshaft. He said it was probably worn and needed to be replaced.
I just finished pulling the swing arm and rear end assembly to check out the U joint and there’s no play in it. It’s tight and not nearly enough play to be loose enough to not catch and go.
Any ideas on what it could actually be?
      Thanks
      Timothy
