I just got the old 500R back up and running again. I remember now why I love two strokes so much. I have gotten used to my LTR so the big pinger was a little scary at first. I tried some new gearing too. I was running 12/39 with 20" tires before, now I am running 14/38 with 18" tires. I never knew it was so badly undergeared. I plan to switch back to 20" tires soon, then she will be good for about 90mph.

1. do you sleep?

2. a 4fiddy 4 stroke and a 500 pinger are 2 different creatures.

3.ride them both and you will understand, grasshopper.

Do this, and you may earn hair like mine. and you will deserve it.

yeah it's the closest my budget can get to a big bore oil burner from the 60s and 70s....that and the smell of blendzall.....now that my Blaster is gone I rarely smell it. 'It's like music to your nose..." LOL It is the smell of times past but still works fine today!

If I buy a big bore 2 stroke and restore it are you gonna drive clear out here again and show me how to ride it? or maybe BUY it? it will be too much for me to be sure......

i'll go buy more ribs and beer!!!!

Sounds like a plan!!! When i was a little kid, like 4 or 5, my dad had a KX250. That was my first time(I remember) smelling 2 strokes or being around motorcycles. Shortly there after my dad had me riding the old ATC110 and the he got me a little Kawi to match his. The rest is history.

COOL! there's plenty of 2 strokes around here, everyone is afraid of working on them!!!! I grew up on them.

Buy a used one, order a piston/ring set, pull the barrel, take it to the machinist, and it's ready to party. Overhaul the carb while the barrel is gone.....

Other than that just basic maintenance, one end to the other: easy and fun! :cute:

I have too many of them right now! but need more, cuz come spring and tax returns, people will want these rides yeehaw!

a good pair of 20s will make it perfect! you'll love it! send us videos!!!! please?

Yeah, I just had it out again today, and the wheel spin is still a bit excessive, I think the 20's will help me get some more traction. Although the few times I did get it to bite, it almost shot out from under me. I was just talking to a guy who has the same CR500/TRX250R hybrid I do, and he is running 15/36 gearing and 22" tires in the sand. I did the math and at 8500rpm in 5th gear he would be doing 116mph! I will try and get some vids up tomorrow.

So I decided to pick up a small trailer if I could get one for the right price.  I found this one for a few hundred bucks on Craig’s list.  It is  a galvanized trailer which is exactly what I was looking for. The wood was shot and needed some minor repairs which I could care less about as long as the chassis was good.
I striped it down and put a new deck on. I had some vinyl realtree graphics that I had laying around so I added them to the fenders which I think worked out well. Very happy with this little guy.
I'm having the iron workers at my jobmake me up a few lightweight side rails that will have a 22 degree bend in them to accommodate the tires that slightly hang over the edge and will incorporate some tie down points as well.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!
