I'm not pushing you away by any means but check this site out. The ATV Zone

Almost everyone on there is from that area of the country.

Yep, most of them ride RAC land near the former Rausch Creek track. TONS of coal trails and piles to play on. What part of NY are you from? I used to ride a state forest down past Harrisburg, but it's really not that great for us sport quad guys.

I ride in the NE PA area.

I used to ride at the "pay to ride" parks but I missed the days of riding for free (except for gas for towing and the bike plus lunch). The pay to ride parks prices were a bit salty. $35 a day to ride (and sharing the trails with monster 4x4's and huge rock crawlers) or $400 a year!!! The trails were actually built for the 4x4's but the owners found out they could make a lot more money letting ATVs in the park. Huge rocks everywhere. Mudholes that would swallow your bike in an instant. Just over all piss poor riding conditions. I also rode in the Hazelton, Hamburg, Allentown areas but those spots were illegal and my bike is a bit loud to be sneaking around. Then one day on a PA ATVing website I heard of this RAC program. I looked into it and found out the main riding area is an hour away from me!!!! AND...it only costs $100 a year! SA WHEAT!!! Since then Ive never cared to find other riding areas. The hour drive is a bit of a drag because it adds two hours to an already long day of riding. But, its one of the only places to legally ride and the riding is hard to beat!!

I never tried our state trails. One trail is about 45min from me but I heard the riding is absolutely terrible (especially for sport bikes).

I attended a couple of QuadFest events held at Mountain Ridge ATV Trails. Those were some of the best times of my life!! QuadFest is no more. It was great but it was starting to get too big for its own good. I would like to get back to the Moutain and ride their trails when there's not 5400 people riding around. I was just on their site and the main camping area is now covered with windmills. The vending area is in the middle of the windmills (see pic below)

We don't get down that way too much except for RAC. Centeral PA is where we usually ride. Just got back from whiskey springs and snow shoe is in the near future.

Also check out:

Tower City

Michaux

Sideling Hill

Martin Hill

It is rumored that the mountain will have a 'toned down" quad fest this year called "winddig". So far no confirmation.

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.

Troubleshooting a no spark issue, was running OK, maybe a little rich, turned it off, now no spark. I've checked/ohmed out the main key switch, the start/stop switch, neutral switch, brake switch - all good. It will crank the starter, but no spark with the starter or when I try the pull start. I've checked all fuses and diodes. Swapped battery. New plug. New coil. Swapped in a used CDI - no help. Traced, removed, cleaned, reattached all grounds. Removed things like my winch from the circuits to be sure a bad relay or something was dragging it down. When testing voltages, the orange wire going from the CDI to the ignition coil shows no/very low voltage-shouldn't it have 12V on it? Sometimes I get a very weak, intermittent glow on my spark tester, but not enough to fire the plug. I've checked continuity on just about all wires in the harness. Checked/cleaned/lubed w dielectric grease- all connections, redid a few that looked old/dirty. I've checked the stator resistances, all good, but have a stator and rectifier ordered anyway, will arrive Sunday. I verified that the rectifier has a voltage output back to charge the battery while cranking - 10.5-11V, low, but expected while starter is engaged. What else can I check as part of troubleshooting? I have a Haines service manual, but the 1999 350 4x4 seems to be an odd model, there isn't an exact electrical diagram for it, but found one for another year that has all the same number of wires and same color wires, so I've referenced that. Any hints, tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
