I installed a SuperTrapp Mudslinger and a K&N yesterday and took my AC 400 out for a test ride today to see how it was running.

During my ride, I noticed a fuel leak that appears to be coming from the carb vent hose.

The carb is bone stock, and hasn't been touched. I wanted to see how it was running before planning any jetting.

What does this mean? How worried should I be?

Nope, didn't take anything off, other than the stock filter.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was coming from the vent hose.

The hose was a little wet on the end and smelled like gas, and there was a little bit of gas right below it on the skid plate.

There was no noticeable power loss.

I'm not sure if it was a drip or a stream. It wasn't running when I noticed the gas on the skid plate, and after that, I was worried, so I loaded it up.

well i dont know if the new cats just have the vent hanging mine doesnt its attached to the frame.. but just to make sure take a look around the carb just to checkif nothing fell out of place... fire up ur atv for about five seconds and see how it is if it is just a drip or a stream.. if the hose is long enough mount it to ur frame using zip ties dont tighten them... it could just be that your vent tube came loose and the gas came out of it because it was hanging lower then the carb..or u can go the safe way and call ur dealer

I think I figured out what's causing my gas leak.

After looking at it again today and thumbing through the manual, I found that the float bowl has a drain screw and hose.

I think my drain screw might have backed out, and that's what's causing the leak. I'm going to check this week to be sure.

did u jet ur carb at all.. if not i suggest u do because with that k&n and the new exhast the engine is breathing better and the oil to gas ratio is probably out of wack... remove ur spark plug and tell me what color it is if u havent done any of this... also for the k&n did u add a pre-filter if not i suggest u do because the grooves in the filter let in a lot of crap and will get in ur carb pre-filters are only a few buck and is well worth it

yea thats wat a dyno jet is for.. theirs other reasons for it..but if u get an exhaust like he has which is a supertrapp it should come with replacement jetting.. now when u add the exhaust and the filter the engine is breathing a lot better do to more air coming in and more carbon dioxide going out.. now do to this their is more air going in then their is gas the jet kit just regulates that flow or makes it equal so u dont fowl plugs do to gas not burning right and it sticks to the plug and potentially ruin it..maybe.. if it is running to lean then the plug will be a a specific color and if it is running to rich the plug will be another color.. the best for ur plug to be at is chocolaty color if im not mistaken..

Did this fix your problem?

I wasn't questioning the jetting thing. Don't you mean air/gas ratio. To adjust the oil/gas ratio you need a 2 stroke.

thank u bot ur absolutely right i didnt even realize yea i meant air/gas ratio..was not thinking straight yet again..sorry

Have you ever been on the trail and your tire valve goes bad. No way to break down the wheel and replace it. A lot of you probably know about this already i had heard of it but never used one. Just punch out the old one insert and tighten down the nut

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

i just picked this up. was told ran fine but overheating issues led to replacing head gasket and head. has not ran since. he is not a mechanic but helped someone else who he could not get back to finish job, got aggravated and put up for sale. i was thinking timing issues. i have 110-120psi on all 3 cylinders so i think valves are correct. dont know about distributor yet. however i have no spark. i have no power going to ignition coil. tried to follow white wire but gets lost in wire harness. does anyone have a wiring diagram? can anyone tell me what conditions have to be met before starting. motor turns over so i would think all safeties are met but you never know.
