rancher420 Posted December 2, 2008 #1 Posted December 2, 2008 ok so on my rancher i want to paint my rims black. My friend did it with his recon and i t came out well except for having to put a new coat on it every now and again. my fourwheeler is green so i think it might look pretty good. Should i paint them????? Quote
Raptor8 Posted December 2, 2008 #2 Posted December 2, 2008 sure if you want! just make sure they are clean and prepped so the paint will stick. Quote
wheeler0801 Posted December 2, 2008 #3 Posted December 2, 2008 heck yaaa check out my rims...they're black and pink well the old ones are....now i got the hipers~ Quote
rancher420 Posted December 2, 2008 Author #4 Posted December 2, 2008 yeah i planned on getting them clean and evrything, and doing a good job painting them. also i want to know what other upgrades i could to my fourwheeler since its all stock Quote
jigolbeep Posted December 2, 2008 #5 Posted December 2, 2008 get them powder coated. it will last a lot longer than paint. Quote
Raptor8 Posted December 2, 2008 #6 Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) The most popular mod I remember seeing on a Rancher was better tires. and a winch. I'm sure the utility guys here will be full of suggestions......The last couple years for me have been mostly sport quads and 3wheelers.... Hey the USFS has a HUGE fleet of RANCHERS here, so they must be good right? They used to keep us busy in the winter servicing hundreds of these rigs. Have a good time! outlander560 Posted December 2, 2008 #7 Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) painting the rims is good idea i painted my stock cat rims with black rustoleum paint..make sure the rim is clean and you also should sand the rim so the paint has something to grip to but use very high grit sand paper u dont want grooves dug into ur rims..... what would you like to o to your atv do you want looks or performance to be first? how much are you willing to spend?? is your rancher efi? Edited December 2, 2008 by outlander560 Quote
rancher420 Posted December 2, 2008 Author #8 Posted December 2, 2008 ill keep the sandin and powder coating in mind. Yeah i thought that was about the only thing is tires. When i need some new ones i was gonna gte itp mudlights and maybe get some rims way later on down the road. Quote
outlander560 Posted December 2, 2008 #9 Posted December 2, 2008 if u want to get tires and rims i suggest you do some performance mods as well to keep up with the tires theirs an outlaw superduty clutch kit on High Lifter a bayuo snorkel kit hmf exhaust and a supertrap exhaust just go on the website and search for vehicle info... the clutch kit is one of the best things i could have bought for my cat at 118 bucks i think you would be happy with it... Sc0tt Posted December 2, 2008 #10 Posted December 2, 2008 I think paint them. You have gotten some solid advice and if you follow it you will be fine. I would probably paint mine black but if you get the right shade of green it will look sweet. The have new camo wheels which look very cool. Quote
outlander560 Posted December 2, 2008 #11 Posted December 2, 2008 their is a bunch of other things you can do to ur atv besides painting your rims that you can easily do at home Quote
rancher420 Posted December 3, 2008 Author #12 Posted December 3, 2008 well see im 14, no job not too much money. but i might look into that clutch kit Quote
outlander560 Posted December 3, 2008 #13 Posted December 3, 2008 im in the same position as u r right now im trying to get a job as well... thats why i said their r things u can do ith things around r house or really cheap things u can buy at a store Quote
wheeler0801 Posted December 3, 2008 #14 Posted December 3, 2008 you have a pretty nice lookin machine...the rims will make a big difference....it will match all the way around with the racks and everything...newer tires when you need them too will make it look nasty. you could always paint the racks too if you need them painted....keep your paint scheme together...slap some stickers on there if you wanna feel like you're a factory rider and, you can always take a look at other people's quads to get ideas for some cosmetic work of your own.... as far as performance issues, you can look into the clutch kit, but check out an exhaust as well... rancher420 Posted December 3, 2008 Author #15 Posted December 3, 2008 ill keep that in mind, and yeah i used to ride dirtbikes and then i out grew them and my bro wanted a fourwheeler but i wanted a racing so i could go fast and jump. When i got that rancher omg i fell in love. these things are great. especially with the fuel inject thing. but yeah i will look into that clutch kit. Quote
outlander560 Posted December 4, 2008 #16 Posted December 4, 2008 if u want ideas for paint u can use line-x or rustoleum both would be good.. and is u rancher a manuel?? Quote
rancher420 Posted December 4, 2008 Author #17 Posted December 4, 2008 yeah like gears? or a clutch like a racing fourwheelers? Quote
outlander560 Posted December 4, 2008 #18 Posted December 4, 2008 if i understoof u correctly it is a manuel or standard or u have to switch gears if that is what ur asking Quote
rancher420 Posted December 4, 2008 Author #19 Posted December 4, 2008 i have to switch gears but i thought you meant like cluth and all that stuff. Quote
rancher420 Posted December 5, 2008 Author #21 Posted December 5, 2008 yeah. but do you like to mud ride or trail ride. i like to mud ride but i try to stay away from dogging it all the time isnce its new. Quote
outlander560 Posted December 5, 2008 #22 Posted December 5, 2008 i like to mud ride thats what im setting my atv up for Quote
outlander560 Posted December 5, 2008 #24 Posted December 5, 2008 i might be adding a snorkel like the one on the mud pro so i can go in the deep water and then 28" outlaws.. then it would be a true mudder but thats gunna have to wait a while....in ur profile their was a Kawasaki brute force is that urs? Quote
rancher420 Posted December 5, 2008 Author #25 Posted December 5, 2008 no thats my cousins husband. that thing is a beast. he took it real deep and made it out with no problem Quote
outlander560 Posted December 5, 2008 #26 Posted December 5, 2008 nice.. he should be careful with that though he could of gotten a lot of water in his tansmission... Quote
Raptor8 Posted December 5, 2008 #27 Posted December 5, 2008 it's a quad, not a BOAT. it's not built for this. PLUS all the knuckleheads riding thru streambeds has CLOSED several Oregon trail systems.....it's NOT the sport guys, it's the utility riders. sport quads dont have fenders and low gears. What possessed you to try and make a boat or submarine of the damm thing anyway? This is NOT doing the sport any good. Kindly stay the hell out of the water unless: 1. it is YOURS, 2.there is a SIGN that says you can enter it,if there is NO sign then DO NOT enter it, and 3. USE COMMON SENSE. Perhaps you folks would be happier with bass boats. Sorry, but this really annoys me and it is all over our videos etc and the environazis are just eating this up. "how I destroyed a trout creek today" how many HUNDREDS of videos? If you want a boat, buy a damm boat. If you want a quad, then outclimb my sportquad on a long hill, go thru deep snow, push a plow, push a snowplow, pull a road sled, haul a hay trailer, go out in the woods and jump over logs! There are many tasks the utility quad is especially designed to do. QUIT screwing with the creekbeds!!!!!! It is a REALLY touchy subject in the Northwest and will be in your statehouse before long. Count on it. Quote
rancher420 Posted December 5, 2008 Author #28 Posted December 5, 2008 ok first i mudride not ride in rivers. and its all about seeing if you and your buddy's can make it through something. thats what its all about. Quote
Stoopidbot1 Posted December 6, 2008 #29 Posted December 6, 2008 I'm going to have to agree with Raptor8...maybe not as harshly but I do agree. I cross plenty of streams/rivers but that is where the trails go. I'm not saying you guys do it, but it is horrible when you see people riding where they shouldn't. It will only ruin everyone's fun. Quote
outlander560 Posted December 6, 2008 #30 Posted December 6, 2008 even though i said i might put a snorkel on my atv it was just an idea... and i agree with Raptor8 100% although a bit harsh..i would never ride in any creek the only time i do is when its an inch deep and i have to cross it.. i would surely be pissed if someone started messing in the creek by my house and destroying the creek.. and i only ride in mud pits and on trails the only time i go next to a creek on my atv when we fish Quote
