hey, i was just wondering if anybody could tell me what you have to do to change the clutch in a yamaha warrior?

Like Stoopidbot1 wrote start by getting a service manual.

I just change my clutch in my 1998 Warrior and it was pretty easy.

There are no hidden surprises, take off the clutch side cover and there is your clutch.

Just read the service manual first and keep it at your side and everything should be fine.

Have Fun!!

drain oil, pull clutch cover off, remove the prussure plate, bolts, springs, and set them aside, remove the old clutch plates, install new plates, friction plate then a metal plate, friction plate then metal plate untill u have used them all, put the metal plates in rough side tords the engine. run your fangure down the metal clutch plate where the teeth are cut into it and u will fill it rough on one side of the plates. now put the prussure plate back on and use the new springs u got with your clutch kit and put them back on. if u did not get new ones use your old springs.now put the bolts back in snug, in a star pattern(do not over tighten the bolts, check your manual for the exact prussure rating) now then put the clutch cover back on and add new oil. adjust the clutch cable if needed, remember to let the new clutch plate set soak in oil for a day or so before u install it.

Isn't there two friction plates that have cushen rings and are slightly narrower than the others? And don't they go in the 3rd and 5th positions when the friction plates are installed?

And don't forget when installing the pressure plate be sure to align the arrows on the clutch boss and the pressure plate.

Also Clutch spring plate bolts torque specs are 70in-lbs

and the clutch case cover is 84in-lbs

I still highly recommend getting a service manual before attempting this job.

It's easy but it's always nice to have a book and illustrations to look at when needed.

yes u are right i was telling in general how to replace a clutch. as u know different quads require different toqrue specs for the bolts . and plate replacement etc.

Yes, I know you were telling in general, and it was good basic run down.

I just added the post to give them an important heads up about 3 & 5 and the lining of the arrows.

As for the Torque specs, I guess I should of added that they are for the Yamaha Warrior 1987 thru 2003. Oops..

The reason this is still fresh in my mind, is because I just replaced my clutch in my 98 Warrior.

I wasn't trying to step on toes or anything. I just wanted to make sure people understand there is more to it.

:cheers2c:

There's no toe stepping, you supplied great and key information. Keep the info coming!

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Troubleshooting a no spark issue, was running OK, maybe a little rich, turned it off, now no spark. I've checked/ohmed out the main key switch, the start/stop switch, neutral switch, brake switch - all good. It will crank the starter, but no spark with the starter or when I try the pull start. I've checked all fuses and diodes. Swapped battery. New plug. New coil. Swapped in a used CDI - no help. Traced, removed, cleaned, reattached all grounds. Removed things like my winch from the circuits to be sure a bad relay or something was dragging it down. When testing voltages, the orange wire going from the CDI to the ignition coil shows no/very low voltage-shouldn't it have 12V on it? Sometimes I get a very weak, intermittent glow on my spark tester, but not enough to fire the plug. I've checked continuity on just about all wires in the harness. Checked/cleaned/lubed w dielectric grease- all connections, redid a few that looked old/dirty. I've checked the stator resistances, all good, but have a stator and rectifier ordered anyway, will arrive Sunday. I verified that the rectifier has a voltage output back to charge the battery while cranking - 10.5-11V, low, but expected while starter is engaged. What else can I check as part of troubleshooting? I have a Haines service manual, but the 1999 350 4x4 seems to be an odd model, there isn't an exact electrical diagram for it, but found one for another year that has all the same number of wires and same color wires, so I've referenced that. Any hints, tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Im aware that this relay needs a positive (+) and a negative (-) to activate the other side. The blue wire is the neutral wire so when in neutral it gets ground. The green wire is from the parking break; when you pull the break in it gets ground (-). however one of those two needs to be neutral so that the positive from kill switch can go to the starter relay. The ground from the starter relay is from the start switch. Which one (neutral or parking break) should have a positive (+) voltage?

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
