Where do i need to start on this thing and is there anywhere i can find the specs? ie..compression valvel clearence ect. Any info on this would be great, thanks

1984 was the First and only yr for the 200ES..Went to the 250ES in 85..Nice to have Shaft drive with reverse....

The battery is only there for the ES....You have the Back up pull Start.....I do think though you have to have something there to Complete the Circuit for it to get spark....So,,,,New battery might be needed if you dont have anything there....

Here is a wiring Diagram

free is a good price! REM to change the oil cuz most folks never check them, like lawnmowers.....

clean, fresh oil will make it happy and bring the compression up.

Typically Honda machines need a battery to run, I suggest you talk more with MYKE as he sounds very familiar with that model.

!!WELCOME WHEELER!! I'll be happy to help! I have 3, cant compete with MYKE.......;p

WOW thanks for the response! wiring diagramed saved to the comuter for refernce. Put a dead battery in and checked voltage from the stator that was good, chaecked all the way to the coil in and got good voltage but nothing out( pluged in a coil off a Isuzu Trooper and got volage out ) oredered a new coil for $44.00 bucks will be in soon I'll let ya'll know about the out come and try to post some picks.

This is a great forum thanks all for your help.

      1989 Moto 4 YFM350ERW intermittent spark.
Quad has set for about 7 years and was running when parked.  When I replaced the battery and attempted to start it had no spark.

What I have done.  Followed troubleshooting in the manual.
      1.       Coil failed the resistance check so I replaced it.  Still no spark.
      2.       I performed resistance checks on the stator and they all pass.
      3.       Found a bad rear brake stop switch and unplugged it and connected the wires in order to disable.  Now I have intermittent spark.  I believe that the issue is with either the stator or CDI and not sure which.
1989 seems to be a transition year for electrical.  I can get new aftermarket CDI units for 87-88 and 90-94.  I cannot get ones for a 89.  I can get new stators for 87-89 and 90-95.  Looking at the schematics the wiring on my moto is closer to the 90 ones on the ATV side of the CDI and closer to the 87-88 on the stator side of the CDI.  Looking at part supply sources the stator housing is the same part # for all the years and looking at some of the stators on Amazon that have the dimensions on them both of the stators are the same size.
What I am thinking of doing is to replace the stator and CDI with a 90-95 one as these parts are all readily available.   Does anyone know if this has been tried before and if there are any issues with doing this.
As a side note I also have a 1993 Moto 4 YFM350ER that has been sitting longer but it is located about 400 miles from me at this time.  By doing this change in addition to being able to get parts I will also have 2 ATV’s that are the same electrically.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.

I’ve got a 2000 400ex with a dg slip on muffler, it came with he stock muffler on it but the previous owner had the dg in a box so I put it on. I’ve been riding it for the past month and a half and every time I let off it backfires, and the other day the backfires got way louder, 2x louder! I’m concerned that I may hurt my motor? Why does is backfire??? Thanks
