i was out riding and i heard a sound that was like a snap and my bike shut off and wouldn't start back up and the only thing that i can visually find wrong is there is a crack in the exhaust. would the crack in the exhaust keep it from starting??

1st Check spark, Then check Fuel, Then check compression. The spark should easy to see if you take out the plug, lay it on the head, & push the engine over by hand. The fyel can uasuly be determined by looking at the plug, is it dry ?? The motor shoult have some resistance to being kicked over, No resistance=no compresion. Hope this helps, you can get back to me if you need more help, I am a technition,

dude it is most likely that ur engine needs to be rebuilt. u sould have taken better care of it because i have had a stock 1996 blaster for 3 years and have not had to rebuild the engine once

Hmmmmm,,,,What part of the motor do you think he should rebuild???? Please be as detailed as any Arm Chair mechanic can be....Im sure after a Yr. he might need some help with this:laugh:

I believe in regular maintenance,,,,However,,,,That doesnt always prevent a Catastrophic failure....dont be so fast to jump the gun kiddo

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i just picked this up. was told ran fine but overheating issues led to replacing head gasket and head. has not ran since. he is not a mechanic but helped someone else who he could not get back to finish job, got aggravated and put up for sale. i was thinking timing issues. i have 110-120psi on all 3 cylinders so i think valves are correct. dont know about distributor yet. however i have no spark. i have no power going to ignition coil. tried to follow white wire but gets lost in wire harness. does anyone have a wiring diagram? can anyone tell me what conditions have to be met before starting. motor turns over so i would think all safeties are met but you never know.
