All of Yamaha's 2009 machines are set to be released today at 3pm eastern time zone. Yamaha insiders I know won't give me details but they tell me I may want to switch from red to blue. We will have to wait and see. I don't know what Yamaha would have to come up with in order for me to switch. I love the Rhino but other than that, I'm not a fan of Yamaha's ergonomics.

wow, they copied Can Am.....

What is with everyone putting 50" width on there 450s now. That sucks unless you do nothing but track or dunes. At least do what Can Am did and make a mx version and a xc version.

i think its great! that saves bundles of cash and extended a arms, brake lines, tie rods and etc.

and all of our trails are ATLEAST 2 quad length which is about 8 or 9 feet wide. so extended a arms are jus added assurance for keeping the rubber side down(or shiny side up as you refer to it )

and besides there is still the regular yfz450 that is narrower and single rate shocks for xc.

about yamaha copying can am. yamaha actually had this layout for months before can am even released the ds450. the only reason yamaha procrastinated releasing the yfz450r was because they were testing and fine tuning their GYTR accesories.

im actually very happy with the yfz's updates. yamaha made a very smart move releasing this bike. they are trying to keep up with the competition, unlike honda :skeptic:

Yup new exhaust and pegs too. Looks like Honda will be the last mfg with a carbureted 450.

i thought the new KTM's were still carb'd 2?? I love the new style and changes, minus the headlights are to high up in the plastic, and that friggin red seat cover looks like:vommit:... that seat design looks like it would be extremely comfortable!!! cause my tail is sore from th LT-r i raced yesterday:aargh::aargh:.. 50 inches can be handled in a tight hairscramble:wink::weapon: cause that lt-r led half the race in an tight pine thicket.

All that yfz needs is a set of 4-1 off-set wheels with razr 2's and a set of 20 razrs on the back and it would be a woods rocket!!!!!!!!!!!

All I have to say is who has the most victories in every kind of quad racing?

I would love to see you guys try and rip through the trails up here on a quad that is 50" wide. Most of the trails are 50" wide. That is why most GNCC racers run between 46"-48".

Different offset wheels in the front would knock it down to around 48".. i enjoyed passing the red 450's that were snagging trees and couldn't make the hill climbs:doa16:

Those red 450 that were snagging trees and getting stuck on hills definitely wasn't me. Mines black!!!!

i beg to differ.

Polaris and KTM are just as major as Honda.

i disagree, honda is the most sold SPORT and UTLITY quad on the market. which is the 400ex and the rancher.

sure popo and ktm are companies that are pretty damn big. but not as huge as honda in the quad industry.

That is the one thing that sucks about Colorado. We have some epic trails up here and there are NO racing series out here. Unless you race mx.

Man i wish i could come check those trails out one day!! i've always been suprised why there is such a lack of cross country, off road, and harescramble type races out your way:confused:

Troubleshooting a no spark issue, was running OK, maybe a little rich, turned it off, now no spark. I've checked/ohmed out the main key switch, the start/stop switch, neutral switch, brake switch - all good. It will crank the starter, but no spark with the starter or when I try the pull start. I've checked all fuses and diodes. Swapped battery. New plug. New coil. Swapped in a used CDI - no help. Traced, removed, cleaned, reattached all grounds. Removed things like my winch from the circuits to be sure a bad relay or something was dragging it down. When testing voltages, the orange wire going from the CDI to the ignition coil shows no/very low voltage-shouldn't it have 12V on it? Sometimes I get a very weak, intermittent glow on my spark tester, but not enough to fire the plug. I've checked continuity on just about all wires in the harness. Checked/cleaned/lubed w dielectric grease- all connections, redid a few that looked old/dirty. I've checked the stator resistances, all good, but have a stator and rectifier ordered anyway, will arrive Sunday. I verified that the rectifier has a voltage output back to charge the battery while cranking - 10.5-11V, low, but expected while starter is engaged. What else can I check as part of troubleshooting? I have a Haines service manual, but the 1999 350 4x4 seems to be an odd model, there isn't an exact electrical diagram for it, but found one for another year that has all the same number of wires and same color wires, so I've referenced that. Any hints, tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Im aware that this relay needs a positive (+) and a negative (-) to activate the other side. The blue wire is the neutral wire so when in neutral it gets ground. The green wire is from the parking break; when you pull the break in it gets ground (-). however one of those two needs to be neutral so that the positive from kill switch can go to the starter relay. The ground from the starter relay is from the start switch. Which one (neutral or parking break) should have a positive (+) voltage?

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Need some help putting a new ignition switch on this thing. I'm not finding homes for all the wires. I can hook up the white wire and brown wire, But the switch has a B/W and Solid Yellow wire i can't find a home for, and there aren't any more wires in the vicinity from the harness that match this, except one red wire with a double female end crimped on, and a few B/Y grounds. None of the wiring diagrams i've founder or have been given match.
I'm also wondering if i have the wrong switch? some switches appear to have 4 wires and other just 2, the Brown wire and a White wire.
I'm at a loss here. Thanks.
