1987 250 Quadrunner...Starter Won't Crank

My starter seemed to be "dragging" for a few weeks.  I thought my battery was going bad.  Bought a new battery, charged it fully, and still no change.  Relay clicks and starter MIGHT, reluctantly, turn engine slowly one or two revolutions.  Somebody (Mech?) please point me in the right direction...what connections/wires have come loose?

Yup I'd definitely be suspecting the brushes in the starter. They wear out quite regularly, and sometimes get stuck in their holder.

The easy way to test them is to use two jumper leads and jump from the battery to earht, and from the battery positive straight onto the starter motor's live terminal. That eliminates the battery cables, bad connections, relays and switches. If it doesn't spin over then whip the starter out and dismantle it. The new brushes get sold with new springs and brushes all mounted on a new steel plate you just slip straight in..  Simple job. Cheap too.

I think the starter motors are fairly common and fit other makes as well. I just take the old plate with brushes to my local bike shop and the girl whips out three boxes of starter brush sets and gives me the ones that match mine. I think there are one or two makes and models of starter that do a lot of make quads.

If you get the numbers off the motor though you could search, or look up the genuine starter or parts and search for those numbers. I'm pretty sure you'll find they are common.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Im aware that this relay needs a positive (+) and a negative (-) to activate the other side. The blue wire is the neutral wire so when in neutral it gets ground. The green wire is from the parking break; when you pull the break in it gets ground (-). however one of those two needs to be neutral so that the positive from kill switch can go to the starter relay. The ground from the starter relay is from the start switch. Which one (neutral or parking break) should have a positive (+) voltage?

First post here need some help/advice. I bought a 2001 king quad 300, vin number JSAAK43A212111871. I have been trying to do some basic maintenance as it runs but doesn't idle all that well . I want to take out and clean/repair the  carb but when looking for parts it ask for model X Y K1 K2. How do I know which model I have? I have tried some vin decoders but they haven't told me. If anyone could recommend a carb rebuild kit for my quad Id appreciate it. Also any tips on tracking down an owners manual?
