I'm thinking about a new muffler for my AC 400, but I have a few questions...

1. Will it void my warranty?

2. Will I get a noticeable gain (torque, speed, etc)?

3. Will the pipe require me to re-jet or do anything else?

My choices are:

Muzzys

Super Trapp Mudslinger

Super Trapp IDSX

i dont have a pipe for my quad but yea it will void ur warranty... idk if it will give u torque but i do know it will give u hp... ive never heard about rejetting ur quad,, but i dont think u have to anything else to ur quad

You DO NOT have to rejet in every situation. I put an after-market pipe on my quad and did not change my jets. It runs fine. Only difference other than the performance gains was every now and then I get a little back fire. Like once a ride. If you put a pipe on and it is popping like crazy change it. You will know right away if you need to.

i would rejet anyway so u get a little more power from your wheeler

u could rejet but u have to know wat u r doing... i agree with bot i dont see the need to rejet it really doesnt give u that much of a power boost..

well im one that (LOVES) the power and speed so, i would rejet if needed to even if it's just a small power gain it ALL adds up.

rejetting is wen u take the jet that is inside ur carb and change it to a smaller jet stream or a bigger one.... now u do get better mpg and more hp..... but a problem with rejetting is that if u live in a region with different climates you have to change the jet for warm weather and cold weather.... it is a lot cheaper then the other kinda of mods out there but u also need to know wat ur getting urself into before u tear ur carb apart...

so r u going to get a pipe or r u going to wait for the warranty to be over?

I haven't decided yet. I just bought a winch and a wheel and tire kit, so it'll probably be a little while before I get anything else.

I'm trying to pace myself.

i dont even like to touch my carb

I thought rejetting was dictated by alititude and not climate?

Basing it on seasonal changes would be a major design flaw....IMNSHO......

Rejetting is necessary when there is a change in the air to fuel mixture. It can be with altitude or it can be with changing parts like intake and exhaust components. Now that I have this written I think that txduggan was being a smart as* and this makes me look like a dumbass but I gonna leave it anyway. :dammit:

i know that it is about altitude,,,,, but wen i called my dealer after installing the kit he said u have to change it to the different climates.... sounded a little odd but i have no idea if he is right or not...

it depends on how thick the air is, like in the winter u drop a size becuase of the air in winter is thiner.

okay i have a question, What is re-jetting? and how do I do it?

theres 2 jets the MAIN & PILET. the pilet jet is for bottom end power changes and is fine tuned with the air fuel screw, the main jet is for mid and top end power changes a mid power change is done by the needle clip setting and a jetting change, and the top end power change is done with a main jet change and needle if needed. If u are running lean(to much air per gas) then jet up, and if u are running rich(to much gas per air) then jet down.

i hope this helps you.

That's on a 2 stroke. On a 4 stroke there is only one to change for altitude.

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.
