I am desperately searching for a rear propeller shaft (main drive shaft) for a Vitacci EFI 650 / YL650UTV-1. The dealership I bought it from saw me coming - it's been nothing but a headache! I need to replace the entire shaft but *cannot* track one down! Consequently, if anyone has some tips on reforming a deformed yoke (the part that holds the u-joint), I'm all ears!

I can give you pics as well as the whole story of how it happened, but since this is my first post, I figured I'd err on the side of less content initially.

It used to be possible to buy yokes to weld onto hollow tube driveshafts, and for fitting to prop shafts. Tractor places used to have them or get them for me. There are people that make up driveshafts.

If it's a hollow tube type they just lathe a length of pipe to size, knock the right sized yoke in by about 20mm until it comes up against a shoulder on the yoke, then weld it carefully so it doesn't get out of place. I've done it in my workshop.

Yours will have a sliding join I suppose so it will have to get the shaft cut off carefully, which can be done with a hacksaw as long as you don't damage the squareness of the old tube end. That's not hard though, yo,u just barely cut deep enough to cut the weld, and back by a mill or two perhaps  then break the old yoke out. There'll be a square tube end, with a bit of weld on it, you grind off the weld and then push the new yoke in, aligning it with the yoke on the other end(very important), weld it carefully and it's good as new. If it's lined up, which the shoulder on the yoke and the square end of the tube does, then they are balanced well enough for your use..

Tractor place or a marine place might be able to get you a yoke, or an engineering shop, or a driveshaft and transmission sort of place..

Thank you! Everything's at my shop at work, so I will look into this first thing tomorrow morning. I think you may have just solved it! I'll let you know…

I'm trying to help a buddy out with his bike (he's not really on the internet or familiar with these forums) and I'll admit that I am not super familiar with the transmission and clutches in these bikes. I owned a Brute a few years ago, but never had an issue like this that I had to troubleshoot.
So basically my buddy bought a group lot of 650's to build one good bike out of. He got it all put together and has it running but when he pushes on the throttle the clutch doesn't engage till the RPM's are quite high and even when its moving it doesn't really speed up, almost seems like its in "limp mode". He's tried 2 different transmissions so I don't think that's the problem.
Is there any adjustment on the clutch engagement? Anything else I can tell him to look at? Let me know if you need anymore information if you think you can help.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i just picked this up. was told ran fine but overheating issues led to replacing head gasket and head. has not ran since. he is not a mechanic but helped someone else who he could not get back to finish job, got aggravated and put up for sale. i was thinking timing issues. i have 110-120psi on all 3 cylinders so i think valves are correct. dont know about distributor yet. however i have no spark. i have no power going to ignition coil. tried to follow white wire but gets lost in wire harness. does anyone have a wiring diagram? can anyone tell me what conditions have to be met before starting. motor turns over so i would think all safeties are met but you never know.

Which is more reliable? Shaft or chain drive?
