I’m looking for a top end kit for a Yamaha. I would like to see how well the engine runs before spending $6-$7 hundred on oem. Niche has complete kits from $1-$2 hundred.  Anyone have experience with Niche or similar Chinese companies?

I have indeed, have a complete top end and racing piston .been running around about a year no problem, had a little trouble lining jug up to head , because it was a bit thicker on the side of chain but all in all very impressive and save a bit of money

I just ordered a Niche flywheel for my Suzuki Eiger project, ill see how it works out, interesting they only manufacture about 3 flywheels and mine was one of them, but that flywheel fits a multitude of bikes. I was looking at one on Ebay said it had a 6 yr warranty but wouldn't tell me the manufacturer only that its made in China, im sure that would be fun trying to cash in on that warranty, in other words I don't believe it, OEM doesnt even give that kind of warranty.

Was looking for some Eiger parts on Amazon and one of the Niche rebuild kits came up, cylinder, piston, rings ,gaskets, wristpin, clips, spark plug, all for 88.00. Thats crazy! I would try it for that price, all you can loose is a little labor, certainly not much money involved.

This is one bad review that I have found:

They sent me a defective top end…

They sent me a defective top end rebuild kit for my rhino and waited over 3 days to decide whether or not they want to replace it even though it arrived defective. I asked several times for a return slip so I could get it replaced and they failed to provide one. I ended up eating the return fee just to get my money back. I will never buy another product from their company directly and I have let my friends know about my experience so they don't either.

All the other reviews were 5 star, Just a comment here if I was ordering one I would go through Amazon because if you get no response from the seller , Amazon will take care of it and very effectively, they have done it for me several times, you just have to make an effort to contact the seller first.

$88.00 is too cheap !  I'd be suspicious at that price...  even for my own personal use.

It could be a cheap way to get some parts though. I might for instance inspect each part and decide some were usable with the old cylinder, or that the cylinder looked passable but the piston or pin were rubbish.

My jug itself was 120. All top end was about 300. That was with timing chain and tensioner cheaper yes but has been on bike for while no issue yet. I bought from an used ATV dealer that sells aftermarket parts they are on eBay .

I don't think cheap parts are cheap for no reason, and even if they make them out of jap spec aluminium casting material(which is a standard), they can vary greatly and have different characteristics after a run.

The spec for casting aluminium are loose enough to give a bit of leeway about it's exact composition, and some of it gets harder after being normally hot, and some gets softer after being normally hot, and some that gets soft after normal use gets harder after an overheat, and some that normally toughens after normal running gets soft after an overheat. It also varies in it's expansion rates. Then there are differences with cycling of heat, some responds well to heat cycling, and some does not..

The jap manufacturers are very particular about what exact composition their casting aluminum is, and we pay for their expertise.

I used a couple of their cylinder jugs, some of them you have to drill out for the head bolts, that was a shocker. They aren't horrible if that is your only and last option, just make sure they are within spec and look good before you slap them on.

lol, well the holes were there, but did they did not go all the way through. China quality, you know.  I think a lot of these parts are made in the same place, then companies stamp their name on them.

Troubleshooting a no spark issue, was running OK, maybe a little rich, turned it off, now no spark. I've checked/ohmed out the main key switch, the start/stop switch, neutral switch, brake switch - all good. It will crank the starter, but no spark with the starter or when I try the pull start. I've checked all fuses and diodes. Swapped battery. New plug. New coil. Swapped in a used CDI - no help. Traced, removed, cleaned, reattached all grounds. Removed things like my winch from the circuits to be sure a bad relay or something was dragging it down. When testing voltages, the orange wire going from the CDI to the ignition coil shows no/very low voltage-shouldn't it have 12V on it? Sometimes I get a very weak, intermittent glow on my spark tester, but not enough to fire the plug. I've checked continuity on just about all wires in the harness. Checked/cleaned/lubed w dielectric grease- all connections, redid a few that looked old/dirty. I've checked the stator resistances, all good, but have a stator and rectifier ordered anyway, will arrive Sunday. I verified that the rectifier has a voltage output back to charge the battery while cranking - 10.5-11V, low, but expected while starter is engaged. What else can I check as part of troubleshooting? I have a Haines service manual, but the 1999 350 4x4 seems to be an odd model, there isn't an exact electrical diagram for it, but found one for another year that has all the same number of wires and same color wires, so I've referenced that. Any hints, tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Im aware that this relay needs a positive (+) and a negative (-) to activate the other side. The blue wire is the neutral wire so when in neutral it gets ground. The green wire is from the parking break; when you pull the break in it gets ground (-). however one of those two needs to be neutral so that the positive from kill switch can go to the starter relay. The ground from the starter relay is from the start switch. Which one (neutral or parking break) should have a positive (+) voltage?

I’m brand new to 4 wheelers and just bought a 1987 Yamaha Moto 4 350. It has good compression and fuel, but no spark. I’ve looked high and low trying to find how to test all the components of the ignition system, but can’t find anything. This has a new CDI box on it, but I suspect it might be the stator. How do I test the stator on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
