LT 230GE Refurb

I cannot download the manual from here without 10 posts, so I figured I might as well ask a question:

I have a 1986 Suzuki Quadrunner LT230GE

Rode Suzuki 125 as a kid in the 80's but never worked on them.

What are the typical problem areas on these LT23GE's? What should I look to pre-emptively fix/look to see if it is working?

And, why cant I find a choke cable?

And to add to this question...the starter switch on the handlebar is pretty intermittent. Is there a suggested replacement to this (all the used ones I saw on ebay look worse than mine)
