Hello,

I recently picked up an ‘07 KFX 700. All was going well, rode it about 40 miles, when it started bogging at low speeds. If I kept the revs higher, I was just fine. Also, a persistent issue since I picked it up is the fairly difficult start (but it is abnormally cold right now and the quad is jetted for the dunes at summertime).

Regarding the complete lack of idle, I have to rev it a couple times to get it to idle after starting it, after which it’s 50/50 whether it remains idling. I don’t have low fuel, but all of this began after I rode it pretty hard and the radiator fan kicked in. Might be overheating, just wanted to hear your opinions.

Crisis averted! It was overheating. After leaving it an hour to cool it star ya just like before and idles great. Rode it around the block a couple times and everything’s in order. One question though: is this air duct (coming from the CVT) meant to be like this?

The duct looks fine. That engine is water cooled. Over heating is never a good thing. It really stresses the engine. Check the thermostat or the water pump. The sensor that brings the fan on could be lagging and coming on a little late as well.
Check your coolant level and that its moving fluid through the system.

I had a 4 wheeler a bit ago that was hard to idle, hard to start, popped at WOT after running a while...always ran great cold.  Issue on that one turned out to be trash in the bottom of the gas tank.  As you ran and disturbed the gas it would shake up the bits and clog the screen on the petcock.  After it sat a bit, the trash would fall off the petcock and it would run fine again until it stopped up again..vicious cycle.

cleaned the tank and never had an issue with it again.

Might be unrelated to your issue, but something to consider.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

My name says it all. I have a '03 Honda Sporttrax 400EX with a new aftermarket carb on it that seems to be having issues. I can start it but it idles really rough and when I give it throttle it just kills the engine. I have tried adjusting the idle screw but to no avail. I am in the San Diego Ca area.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I would also like to get an owners manual for the thing too but can't seem to find a downloadable one.

Im aware that this relay needs a positive (+) and a negative (-) to activate the other side. The blue wire is the neutral wire so when in neutral it gets ground. The green wire is from the parking break; when you pull the break in it gets ground (-). however one of those two needs to be neutral so that the positive from kill switch can go to the starter relay. The ground from the starter relay is from the start switch. Which one (neutral or parking break) should have a positive (+) voltage?

Hello all! I’m new to the 4 wheeler world, but not new to the mechanic world. I was a diesel mechanic for many years and last year got into jet skis. I just bought a 1987 Yamaha moto 4 350 and now learning the ins and outs of 2 stroke engines. Looking forward to learning all the things.

Does the 1987 moto 4 350 have a low oil sensor that kills spark? Or are these too old for that kind of thing?
