Why is it important to have an ATV Winch you may ask? If your ATV gets stuck in the mud, you can attach the winch cable or rope from your ATV winch to lets say a nearby tree, or something else that can act like a large anchor, to then pull yourself out. You can also help get your friend's ATV out of the mud if they get stuck, and be a hero! It's also a must have in the winter, if you have a plow...

An ATV winch is a must have accessory for most 4WD ATVs, especially if you plan on riding in areas where you may get stuck or need to help a buddy out of a pit. Sure an ATV tow rope might work for that, but it sure is nice to have a winch ready to go and provide that pulling power when needed. If you are debating a synthetic line vs steel cable, read up on the difference, pros, and cons of each. We have an article explaining some of this from a few years back here. Some 2WD utility quads can also make use of a winch. In most cases a 1500lb ATV winch is just fine. If you are moving up to some of the larger ATVs and UTVs and want more power, you can move up to a 2,000lb or 3,500lb winch, depends on what you want to spend really. There are a few good buys under $100 you can find on Amazon today, that will get you going. We wanted to showcase and share a few of these with you.

To add to the thread here... Also under $100 are several versions of Champion winches.  They are complete garbage so don't bother.  The one on my son's 420 lasted 3 rides and the 3rd only happened after working the spool over a couple times.  Of course, his is a Honda boat so that doesn't help.

Trying one of Harbor Freight's finest today, we'll see how that works out.

i have a Badland 3500 wench on my 2020 Forman 520 which i had on my 2018 alterra 500 and i have beat on it pretty hard and not once have i had a problem. had for 3 yrs and paid $109 with a coupon.

I tried synthetic cable on it and it was horrible so i bought the steel cable to put back on it. It mounted to the very front of my quad too and has no protection from anything.

I don't see this one lasting long but hopeful. His 420 and my 300 spend as much time being a submarine as they do an ATV and most winches won't do well under water. I really HATE the wireless remote and removable control on the Badlands winches but they're cheap enough. A simple rocker switch lasts forever but the wireless remote I don't see lasting long

I was looking to buy a new ATV.
I was debating between Polaris sportsman 450 and Honda rancher.
      Polaris it a bit cheaper.
But can you tell me which one will have more demand on the used market? Which one will keep it's value better?

Hey y’all, I need some help badly. I have a 02 Honda foreman rubicon 500, it sat for a year (ran out of time) just did a full top end plus piston and rings on it. Got it running but it will not drive forward at all and will only do 2 mph in reverse. The engine or transmission makes a very loud whining when I hit throttle both ways.
I need some help I’m very unfamiliar with the hondamatic.

      Any ideas or options?

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.

I'm having trouble identifying Mark. I know where the mark is in the Stator cover. Is the T at about, the 12 o'clock position in this photo? I've got to buy another Stator cover as the one I have has a hole at the bottom of it. Due to failing eyes, I have a lot of trouble anymore. Thanks! 🙂

Am i tthe only one that likes to spend endless hours building from scratch? Just to be frugal. Or is the addiction actually to obtain knowledge?
