Thanks guys! TrailBlazer is right, I learned alot from my dad in my racing days but I have learned alot more from reading all these post. I like to read the problem and other peoples solutions. If I don't have an answer, I like to research it just fo my personal knowledge and to help a fellow rider. That means alot that you would think of me for the spot. Thanks again.

Hi folks, a little disparity brought me to this forum.  To set the stage, I'm a 35 auto tech in the industry 37 years now.  Licensed motorcycle tech also, 20+ years.  I race superbike and motocross.  Always done most of my own standard work (outside of specific race machine works) including building my own race bike engines.  Now that skills are out of the way, onwards and upwards.
Helping a neighbor with his old quest 500, right front axle seal leak.  Well, looks like everything else - right?  Wrong!  Initially I noticed the CV joint was lacking large lands to place prybars on to pop it out, rather a thin shield like ring very close to the diff seal.  Knowing the ring appeared quite delicate, I only pried gently and the CV popped out.  However this is where things get weird.  Came out only around 7-9mm then hung up again, felt like the clip was catching inside the diff.  So spun and pulled, spun and pulled until I was blue in the face but no success getting it out.  Also while it was out, I could see that the delicate ring around the outer circumference of the joint was actually the sealing surface where the seal contacts, instead of the norm where the seal rubs inside the diff much deeper and stays cleaner.  I've never seen a joint like this, also the service manuals photos which apply to 650 also reflected a standard joint I am accustomed to rather than this one I was fighting with.  Rather than break something in the diff, I decided to stop while I was ahead and reassemble the machine before something broke.  (The joint would pop in and out of place easy enough, just wouldn't slide out further than 7-9mm).  While the joint was a little out and sealing surface exposed, I cleaned the seal and sealing surfaces clean as possible before putting back together.  Seems to be holding for now, but eventually I'm sure the leak will come back.  Any thoughts as to why that CV joint just refused to come all the way out?

      Hello all,
I am working on a MXU 270 and having the hardest time finding information. I recently saw a youtube video that claims the MXU 270 is mechanically the same as the Bruteforce 300. Can anyone confirm?

Hi everyone!  I am rebuilding my father's 2022 Sportsman 450HO that caught fire and wrecked all of the body and melted much of the wiring harness. I was able to source a used harness to splice in, but it's missing the wires and connectors going to the left side controls (Start/stop, headlight hi/lo & reverse overide). I haven't been able to find individual part #'s for these plugs/pigtails, Polaris only lists the entire harness for a huge amount $$$. At 72 yrs old, the last thing he needs is to spend all his money on a quad he's only had less than a year, lol. Does anyone know of the part #'s for these, or an aftermarket source?  Thanks!

I have had this machine running and put about 4 hours on it but it would not idle great. Would fluctuate between 700 & 2000 rpm and usually quit at the low rpm. Spark plug would carbon off and have to be cleaned. Throttled up nice and ran good in mid and high range. Machine then quit and wouldn't restart, couldn't get it to fire. Checked everything, had spark, gas, etc. Thought spark may be weak so ordered a new coil. Machine sat for 3 weeks waiting on new coil. Installed coil and machine fired right up. Idled nicely until it warmed up and then rpm's were all over the place. It quit after about 20 minutes and then would restart. If I let it sit for a few days it will start but won't idle.
Fuel/air mixture screw does nothing, can be screwed out or in and no change in idle. Only way to keep it idling is to turn the throttle screw way in and have it revving over 2000 rpm.
As this unit sat for close to 14 years I have replaced the pulse pump, carb, CDI, spark plug and now the coil.
What am I missing? I have done all the ohms checks on the stator, pulse trigger, etc and they are all good. I've took the carb apart to ensure it was clean, reset the float to be leaner as plug was indicating it was running rich. Didn't make any difference. Don't know where to look next?
Also can anyone tell me what these wires are for that come off the bottom of the carb (see pic).
      Thanks for the help
