Fly fishing , Fly tying

Not much of a hunter anymore  after getting out of the service i sort of look at things differently, i have plenty of arms for home defense but hunting just looks different for me .  Few years back i started fly fishing and i became obsessed lol , my wife bought me a fly tying kit and it became my obsession, love tying flys , i have a room dedicated tomthis sole purpose , i fish rivers only , usually in the Roscoe ,ny area as well as the esopus river , if anybody doesnt tie their own flys and would like some for spring let me know , ill probably tie up a few hundred over the next few cold months over the winter.

Awesome.  I had a buddy that use to ask me for all my deer tails fur for fly making.

Deer tail, hair is great material , i go through a lot of turkey and pheasant feathers as well, 

love fishing in roscoe , the Beaverkill is my favorite,been fishing there since i was 18 , lol about 35 years ago lol....i avoid it on weekends though , its just to crowded

It is a great spot. Believe it or not 30 years ago you could go up there and see guys fishing and would have no idea but famous baseball players, actors etc would go.  There were NY Mets players fishing there. My uncle used to take me and show me and tell me who was who.

You are so right , i have met a few CEO, s of major companys, just doing the same thing we all are doing .

Those rivers are world famous, its funny once we are all in our sport doing our thing , weather with a helmet on our head, or some other gear we all look alike lol .

Havent had much response to this old post but hey ,new members have come along , so,why not.  Lol

with winter here my days of wading in the cold river isnt working anymore lol , but tying flys in the cold evenings with a nice glass at my side is where its at for me , i usually go through all my gear from past season, flies that need to be replaced or ,creating a few new ones .....i usually keep track as to what worked ,where and what month ...then i start tying up , ill make several hundred over the winter , if anybody has ever been curious about this don’t hesitate jump in and try. Its very rewarding
