2003 Prairie 360 2x4 4x4 Gas Smell & Backfires

Smells like gas in the oil ... Also, recently replaced belt, new BT does not have grooves on both sides, does that pose a problem?  Also just bought and replaced new carburetor, never has it idled better, but give it gas and it backfires very loudly!

Have you checked the valve lash adjustment? If the valves are out of adjustment and not closing all the way you will have that problem.

That's a good tip @flyinbrian365 . Could it be that new carb is not jetted properly. Is that a factory or aftermarket carb? How's the air filter?
