Hey guys, I have a 86 ltr250 I got for cheap. Runs an rides good but I'm not doing that any because it needs some love. Definatly lower on compression. I've owned a few two strokes but never have rebuilt top end on them. What is needed an or would a Manuel be best to go by being a newb to it? Lol. Also slight oil leak into stator cover so in gonna replace crank seal first. Oil is grey, is that my rings bad causing low compression an fuel to leak into the bottom end? Or is that the double lipped seal for clutch side? Idk if it's water or not, doesn't really smell like fuel either an I'm not losing any coolent. Help guys! It's much appreciated

its verry  simple procedure to tear the head and cylinder jug off. recomend a light bore of the cylinder an new piston and rings.  get the oversized piston  and have cylinder bored to piston. oil sel as for the leak in stator cove..

Grey oil as in milky colored? This is usually coolant and could indicate a blown head gasket, which would also account for the low compression.

Definitely get a manual. It can save you some agonizing problems like finding out the bolt you just stripped was actually a reverse thread (been there, done that).

Are the cheap tires from Amazon any good? I know nothing last forever, but don’t want them to dry rot in a year.

Question for you guys. I have a 98 bayou 220 that I picked up cheap cause it's wasn't running. So it's has very low compression. It is getting spark and fuel.
What should my next course of action be? Any other tests I should perform or where to start looking?
      Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I’m new here and new to 4 wheelers. Just got a Yamaha bear tracker 250 and joined here to see if I could get some help.
The motor runs and it drives if it up on jackstands but if you get on and try to ride it, it starts to drive but then quits after a foot or two and dies out and won’t drive. The guy I got it from said he was running and using it shifting through all the gears great and he started it up the next day and it started this.
He told me he thought it was the U joint on the driveshaft. He said it was probably worn and needed to be replaced.
I just finished pulling the swing arm and rear end assembly to check out the U joint and there’s no play in it. It’s tight and not nearly enough play to be loose enough to not catch and go.
Any ideas on what it could actually be?
      Thanks
      Timothy
